Prince's Gambit - Review

With their countries on the brink of war, Damen and his new master, Prince Laurent, must exchange the intrigues of the palace for the sweeping might of the battlefield as they travel to the border to avert a lethal plot.

Forced to hide his identity, Damen finds himself increasingly drawn to the dangerous, charismatic Laurent. But as the fledgling trust between the two men deepens, the truth of secrets from both their pasts is poised to deal them the crowning death blow . . .

Book Breakdown

This one is so much better than the first one! There's also less rape and beatings. Laurent actually is shown to have a heart. I found myself really loving his character more and more through this installment.

This one picks up almost where the first left off with the two princes heading off to the boarder. Laurent's still playing the game with his uncle for the throne, but will he open up to Damen and help him? Can they help each other? Will this be the end of them both? More importantly, will they ever get together?!

I loved watching this cat and mouse game with our two leads and those around them. The plot kept me reading way past my bedtime. It felt very high stakes and people I liked did die. As sad as that is, it really made the story feel so damn real and had me worrying that my two princes could in fact die and that would've broken my heart!

The writing is so unique and something I've never encountered before and the best way I can think to describe is... kind of poetic in a weird way... I don't really know but I do love it. It's still very easy to follow and paints such a wonderfully vivid picture of the story and I felt like I was right there watching this all take place.

Overall, such a wonderful read! I've not loved a series this much in such a long time!
