50/50 Friday - Favorite/Least Favorite Diverse Book

What is 50/50 Friday?
Everyone has a favorite and then we also have something we dislike. Like a coin, there are two sides to every question. Example: best sequel you've read/worst sequel you've read. So that's what 50/50 Friday is all about. I'll have a new topic every Friday. If you have have ideas for this meme don't be scared to let me know!

Favorite/Least Favorite Diverse Book

Diverse books have started to really take over the YA scene and with that comes some really epic stories and some that just miss the mark. Here is my favorite and least favorite ones.

Least Favorite
27 Hours - (Review)

This first one I'm sure you've heard of and it's amazing!
An Ember in the Ashes - (Review)

The Immortal Rules
Now this is one I read before I started blogging so I don't remember a whole lot. I do know it's about vampires which already makes it awesome. Then I can't remember if the MC is full Asian or mixed but it's one of those. Also the author is a POC. She's the same one who wrote The Iron Fey series. I'm due a reread of this awesome series, that's all I know.

  1. I love the Ember in the Ashes books!

  2. Two favorites, both speculative fiction: The Wind-up Girl by Paulo Bacigalupi and The Fifth Season by N K Jemisin.

    1. The Wind-Up Girl is one that I've heard nothing but great things about!

  3. I really need to continue with The Ember in the Ashes series! I remember reading the first book and really liking it but then I just never got around to the second one (or I did and I just don't remember it...). The Immortal Rules remains one of my favorite series to reread to date. It never gets old, no matter how many times I read it :)

    1. I've still not read A Reaper at the Gates even though I own the audiobook... so I understand completely! Yes! The Immortal Rules is just so underrated and it's so freaking good!

  4. I haven't read either of your two favourites, but I do love searching out and reading diverse books. I think it's so important to discover other peoples and cultures :-)
