June Wrap Up!

I read 15 books last month! That may not sound like a lot but that's the most I've read in nearly a year. I'm really proud of myself! So without further ado, let's get to all the books!

This was the first read of the month and I was worried because it's very... meh. It's not bad but it's not amazing. It's just kinda there. Our heroine ends up running away from her creepy older brother who wants to sell her for money. He didn’t even want to give her in marriage, just wanted to use her like a prostitute. She ends up with a band of pretty cool highlanders and falls for the oldest one. We get to see their budding romance and also have a very easy to figure out murder plot. It took me a while to get through because I just wasn’t excited enough to keep going but it wasn’t DNF material either.

I actually have a review for this one! So if you want to know more just click HERE.

I have no idea what happened here. Normally, I love anything this author writes but just wasn't feeling this one I guess. It felt jarring and I couldn't connect with our main characters at all. Hopefully the next one is better!

I have a review of this coming later on the blog so stay tuned for that!

I've never read a manga or seen an anime that made me fall in love with the world more than this one. I honestly think the world is the best thing about this series.

’m a sucker for anything to do with Titanic which is ironic because I can’t stand sad endings. I know, I’m strange. When I saw this on Amazon, I clicked buy now so fast it wasn’t even funny.

The book is very character driven, which I adore! But I wasn’t the biggest fan of our MC. She seemed a little selfish, just wanting her brother, James, to drop everything and go with her plan.

But she grew on me and James grew on me even more. He was my favorite character from this book.

There was even some romance, which I live for. I really don’t like books that have no romance. It wasn’t the best but that’s not the point of this book. It was the sibling relationship and it was done wonderfully.

So… I’ve praised this book so far mostly, why two stars? I hate sad endings. Absolutely abhor them. My life is dark and depressing, I read to escape that and this book didn’t let me.

I suppose this is all my fault, I mean, it is a story about the Titanic but I had hope of a nice little ending for the fictional characters. Oh well.

I just recently posted a review for this one! Click HERE to read it.

I’m SO happy to have found an f/f historical romance! The writing is great, the romance superb and the plot wasn’t bad either. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.

Love the story! Love how the characters act like the video game but I didn’t like that we hardly saw any of their faces. Besides that, the art is great. Dark and creepy but just give me more details on the faces!

Not my thing, sadly. I honestly don't know how I managed to read it all. I kept falling asleep. The characters were bland and the world building.... was honestly confusing at first or maybe I didn't full understand where I kept falling asleep.

I don't wanna say anything and spoil this awesome manga so I'll just say this, READ IT!!!!

I've never been so torn when it comes to a book character in my life. Sometimes I wanted to throw Anthony out a window and other times I just loved him to pieces. Now Kate, ugh, I love her so much. She deserves the world! I'll be talking more about this book in my Bridgerton series review to come.

This is actually a Cinderella retelling. I had no idea till I started reading and I loved it! Benedict is my favorite leading man in this series so far! Sophie is also great. She's not Kate but I still liked her. Again, I'll go into more detail in a different post.

This follows a social wallflower named Kitty. Her group of friends have decided that they're tired of being wallflowers and are going to wicked in order to get a husband. Kitty's family is so close to falling into the poor house when she comes up with a plan to fake an engagement with a Duke who has not been seen in ten years. She knows she'll be ruined for this but it will help her sister get a good match. She just never though the Duke would show up to see her....

Ugh this was sooooo good! Slow burn, a selfless heroine, a man who just wants to make the love of his life happy.... yes! The writing is great! I honestly just love this one.

This book was utter perfection. I can’t think of one thing negative to say about this book. It’s the second in the Sinful Wallflowers series and follows Maryann, who doesn’t want to marry the horrible man her father has picked for her and instead she starts a rumor that the most notorious rake has visited her bedchamber at night! Well, Nicolas overheard and decided to get closer to her, even though he should stay away... because he’s got dark secrets that could get her hurt.

That’s pretty much it for the month of June. I really hope that July is just as fruitful! August will see my reading drop because I’m going back to college for graphic arts. I’m looking forward to it but also nervous! I’ll leave you with a question; what was your favorite read this month?

(Pride) Book Review - Sagittarius Saves Libra

True love is on the horizon, Sagittarius. It’s a good time to step out of your routine and into the unknown. Jason Lyall wants someone to come home to, someone he can be his most ridiculous self with. Someone who loves him regardless. But no matter how hard he tries, he can never quite make that connection, and now his last girlfriend has moved on—she’s engaged. So when his identical twin begs him to swap lives for a few weeks, Jason can see the appeal. Suddenly he’s living another life in a tiny Australian town, contending with weird, wild, and wonderful things the likes of which he’s never encountered before. Like spiders. Like snakes. Like his new neighbour, Sergeant Owen Stirling, who is all kinds of . . . suspicious. Prepare to be caught in a merry mix-up, Libra. It’s a dance of side-stepping and seduction. Book Breakdown I did not know this was coming! When I woke up on June 1st and saw an email from Amazon saying the author dropped a new book in this series... I lost it! I hones

Music Monday - Recent Plays

This fun meme is hosted over at Always Me   I listened to a lot of music over this past week because I've been on fall break. It's been pretty good minus all the tornadoes and bad weather, but today the high was only around 70! That's amazing for this part of Oklahoma.  The music I've been vibing to is darker sounding songs since it's so close to Halloween! This year my partner and I are gonna crave pumpkins that always and then I'm gonna go with a friend on a train ride. She said she's done it before and it's fun. I'm hoping she'd right!  But for now, to the songs! Sooooooo what did you think? Let me know below and have a great week! Stay safe, wear a mask, and happy reading!

Bisexual Erasure (Pride Month)

Happy Pride! Since today is bisexual day, I wanted to talk about something important to me. I hope you'll listen with open ears, mind, and heart. Thank you.  I’ve seen this happening for years now. People will say things like, “it’s a phase” or “pick a side.” I’ve even seen some say that bisexual people only like cisgender men and women and exclude all other genders. Which isn’t always the case. Sure, some bisexual people feel that way, which is why pansexual and other names came into play. But at its core, being bisexual just means that you’re attracted to more than just one gender.  I’ve never hidden on this blog the fact that I’m bisexual but I rarely talk about the struggles I feel because it just never felt right when you have gay people that have to hide their complete selves for fear of what the world could do to them.  Or trans people who spend every day trapped in the wrong body and can’t tell anyone to get the things they need to be their truth selves.  Put against issues
