Bookish: Would You Rather? + Recommendations

I saw this on the blog Addicted to Romance. A great blog and I fully recommend checking it out! She reads so much and it blows me away. Her reading skills are no joke! Plus, she has great taste! If you like romance, her blog is one to follow!

How I'm going to do this is choose between the two choices and then recommend a book with my chosen answer. Please feel free to play along in the comments! Now, let's go!

Alpha Male or Cinnamon Roll Hero?

This one usually depends on my mood or the time period. I love alpha males in paranormal and historical romance but I don't like them in contemporary romance. But if I have to choose... Alpha Male wins!

Second Chance or Insta Lust?

This is hilarious to me as I don't usually like either of these really but I really can't vibe with insta-lust. You could call me a slow burn fanatic and since insta-anything is the opposite of that... you get it. Now, I want to share a favorite second chance of mine!

MMF or Reverse Harem?

Geez... I may need to open up my reading tastes a bit because I don't read either of these. I read two reverse harem novels once and didn't like them and have never stuck my toe back into the genre. As for MMF, I just haven't found a novel with this one. When I look up novels, I usually just find the ones that feature only two people. So please, drop any MMF recs you have below! I'd like to read some!

Marriage of Convenience or Kidnapping?

This is hands down marriage of convenience! I know lots of dark romances feature kidnapping and I've even read a few but to put it up against MoC is just wrong because I freaking love this trope! I love stuffing our two MC together and watching them fall in love.

Friends to Lovers or Forced Proximity?

I actually do like both of these but if you read the one above you'll already know which I've chosen. Stuffing our two MC together and just watching them makes me so happy. Major bonus points if it's an enemies to lovers novel.

Real Person Covers or Illustrated Covers?

This might be a hot take but here we go. I actually really hate the illustrated covers and I say that as someone in the graphic design field and can recreate those covers easily. But to me... they look like a kids book. I used to be able to judge the steam of a book by the cover but now... I can't. I can't even tell what a romance novel is anymore.

I recently thought the book The Stand-In was a romance because the cover and it wasn't at all. I know this cover trend is to help some people not feel ashamed when reading a romance book in public and that's nice. But now I'm so confused anytime I pick up a book. I don't like it.

And that my friend is the end of this one! Did you play along? I can't wait to see your comments for this one! As always, have a great day, stay safe, and happy reading!

(Pride) Book Review - Sagittarius Saves Libra

True love is on the horizon, Sagittarius. It’s a good time to step out of your routine and into the unknown. Jason Lyall wants someone to come home to, someone he can be his most ridiculous self with. Someone who loves him regardless. But no matter how hard he tries, he can never quite make that connection, and now his last girlfriend has moved on—she’s engaged. So when his identical twin begs him to swap lives for a few weeks, Jason can see the appeal. Suddenly he’s living another life in a tiny Australian town, contending with weird, wild, and wonderful things the likes of which he’s never encountered before. Like spiders. Like snakes. Like his new neighbour, Sergeant Owen Stirling, who is all kinds of . . . suspicious. Prepare to be caught in a merry mix-up, Libra. It’s a dance of side-stepping and seduction. Book Breakdown I did not know this was coming! When I woke up on June 1st and saw an email from Amazon saying the author dropped a new book in this series... I lost it! I hones

Music Monday - Recent Plays

This fun meme is hosted over at Always Me   I listened to a lot of music over this past week because I've been on fall break. It's been pretty good minus all the tornadoes and bad weather, but today the high was only around 70! That's amazing for this part of Oklahoma.  The music I've been vibing to is darker sounding songs since it's so close to Halloween! This year my partner and I are gonna crave pumpkins that always and then I'm gonna go with a friend on a train ride. She said she's done it before and it's fun. I'm hoping she'd right!  But for now, to the songs! Sooooooo what did you think? Let me know below and have a great week! Stay safe, wear a mask, and happy reading!

Bisexual Erasure (Pride Month)

Happy Pride! Since today is bisexual day, I wanted to talk about something important to me. I hope you'll listen with open ears, mind, and heart. Thank you.  I’ve seen this happening for years now. People will say things like, “it’s a phase” or “pick a side.” I’ve even seen some say that bisexual people only like cisgender men and women and exclude all other genders. Which isn’t always the case. Sure, some bisexual people feel that way, which is why pansexual and other names came into play. But at its core, being bisexual just means that you’re attracted to more than just one gender.  I’ve never hidden on this blog the fact that I’m bisexual but I rarely talk about the struggles I feel because it just never felt right when you have gay people that have to hide their complete selves for fear of what the world could do to them.  Or trans people who spend every day trapped in the wrong body and can’t tell anyone to get the things they need to be their truth selves.  Put against issues
