Waiting on Wednesday (#21)

Waiting on Wednesday is a weekly meme hosted by Jill from Breaking the Spine.

So this week I am looking forward to a book that I'm sure is going to be simply breathtaking! It's from the same author of the Daughter of Smoke trilogy.

Strange the Dreamer is the story of:

the aftermath of a war between gods and men
a mysterious city stripped of its name
a mythic hero with blood on his hands
a young librarian with a singular dream
a girl every bit as perilous as she is imperiled
alchemy and blood candy, nightmares and godspawn, moths and monsters, friendship and treachery, love and carnage.

Welcome to Weep.

This book is the first of a new series that everyone and anyone who loves Percy Jackson will want to snag. It's on sale May 3rd.

                                         The Crown
Now I will totally admit freely that The Heir wasn't my favorite in this series but I love the first three and I can't wait to see how it ends, it's going to be so bittersweet to see this series end. I love it so much. It's a guilty pleasure of mine.

It's also on sale May 3rd and you can beat your favorite book that I will be heading to Target to grab it!

                                        The Last Star
I've yet to read The Infinite Sea but I enjoyed The 5th Wave. It's
not one of my favorite series but I like it so I do plan to pick this one up, I'm just not in any rush too. This also just so happens to be the last of The 5th Wave trilogy. Lots of things seem to be ending in May but we are also getting some new things as well.

So this book is a standalone as far as I know. But it's by my favorite author so it's going to be freaking wonderful! This one comes out on the 17th of May, so make sure to get your wallet ready for what I'm sure is going to be masterpiece.

Summer Days & Summer Nights: Twelve Love Stories
This is just a book with 12 short love stories in them, but they have a lot of authors who works I love and it's nice to just sometimes do some light reading. Who doesn't love cute love stories anyway?

This one is on sale The 17th of May also.

Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets - Review

All Harry Potter wants is to get away from the Dursleys and go back to Hogwarts School for Witchcraft and Wizardry. But just as he's packing his bags, Harry receives a warning from a strange, impish creature named Dobby - who says that if Harry Potter returns to Hogwarts, disaster will strike.

And strike it does. For in Harry's second year at Hogwarts, fresh torments and horrors arise, including an outrageously stuck-up new professor, Gilderoy Lockheart, a spirit named Moaning Myrtle who haunts the girls' bathroom, and the unwanted attentions of Ron Weasley's younger sister, Ginny.

But each of these seem minor annoyances when the real trouble begins, and someone--or something--starts turning Hogwarts students to stone. Could it be Draco Malfoy, a more poisonous rival than ever? Could it possibly be Hagrid, whose mysterious past is finally told? Or could it be the one everyone at Hogwarts most suspects... Harry Potter himself.

Book Breakdown

This novel picks up with Harry at home with those dreadful Dursleys. I'm still wishing I could jump inside this book and beat them within an inch of their life. But I'm getting off topic... it's just a few months after the first novel ended, summer vacation. On a very important night for Mr Dursley, Harry is confined to his room, where a mysterious house elf named Dobby. Dobby tells Harry that he can't come back to going Hogwarts as something bad would happen! Harry refuses as he can't stay here any longer, so Dobby does something terrible trying to keep Harry from going.

Harry is trapped, Mr Dursley has locked him in his room and barred his windows but it doesn't stop Harry with the help from the Weasley's he gets out of that horrid place. Before heading to Hogwarts they have to stop and gather the supplies for the year in Diagon Alley. Here they run into Mr Malfoy (whom I wish would die in a fire like yesterday) and Lockhart (who I also wish would go die in fire). It was really cool to see Mr Malfoy and Mr Weasley got into a scuffle which so should've been in the movie!

After a whole lot of trouble getting to Hogwarts, Harry and Ron get into quite a bit of trouble but luckily they don't get expelled. So classes start up and guess who just happens to be their new Defense Against the Dark Arts teacher? Lockhart! It's so easy to be annoyed by him like Harry and Ron are. Its's not hard to tell he's a fake from a mile away.

Harry starts hearing a voice that no one else can hear. It's also revealed that he can talk to snakes. Which is a very Slytherin like trait, coming all the way from THE Slytherin. Then terrible things start to happen... Finch's cat gets petrified with an eerie message left on the wall It's not long after that even students are in danger including Hermione!  Many believe it's Harry, opening the Chamber like this and hurting the students.

After putting all the pieces together, Harry ends up down in the Chamber of Secrets, facing off against a huge snake and young Voldemort! It all ends well though, Harry saves the day as he does each book, though this time he also sets Dobby free!

This one was so much better than the first one. I'm glad I read it. My partner says each book just keeps getting better and I hope he's right. I can't wait to find out if he's right!

I do have one silly nit pick with this book, the end where Harry puts the diary into his sock.... could that work? I have small feet and no book, even a small one is going to fit in my sock... yeah that scene is my favorite from the movie but it just made me laugh so hard when I read it and I know that wasn't the right reaction to Dobby being saved.

Favorite Quotes

1) “It is our choices, Harry, that show what we truly are, far more than our abilities.”

2) “Honestly, if you were any slower, you’d be going backward.”

3) “Well, you're expelling us aren't you?" said Ron.
"Not today, Mr. Weasley."
Snape looked as though Christmas had been canceled.”

4) “Harry — I think I've just understood something! I've got to go to the library!”
And she sprinted away, up the stairs.
“What does she understand?” said Harry distractedly, still looking around, trying to tell where the voice had come from.
“Loads more than I do,” said Ron, shaking his head.
“But why’s she got to go to the library?”
“Because that’s what Hermione does,” said Ron, shrugging. “When in doubt, go to the library.”

2 Mini Reviews (Second Nature & Revelation)

Fae had spent the entirety of her life training to protect her Queen.

Jace had spent the majority of his life trying to kill all the Queens.

In a world separated by realms and each realm ruled by a Queen, only the Queens are supposed to be masters of the elements: earth, wind, water, fire, light, dark.

One hundred years ago though a different group of elementals rose up and challenged the Queens. While the conflict had been long and not without cost, the secondary elemental group eventually was defeated and banished. However, that doesn’t change the fact Fae, a fire elemental given a second chance, has trained her entire life to hunt and kill other elementals in the name of her Queen.

When it's discovered the group that was banished is returning, Fae finds herself having no choice but to team up with the exiled earth elemental in hopes of stopping the rest.

With their world threatened, Fae fights for a chance to live free of the life she was born to, and Jace, the earth elemental, fights for a chance to redeem himself for those hundred years ago.

Mini Book Breakdown

*I received this book in exchange for an honest review*

So right away I was sucked in, the writing is flawless in this novel, the story so compelling, and the characters are well flushed out. I enjoyed this so much. It was so hard to put it down when I hard to work. It was all I could think about until I got it in my hands again.

So Jace, I love him so much! To me he is not the normal hero, he is more of a anti hero and I love that! He's got so many layers and great depth that he seems so real, like he could be out there walking around somewhere. Fae is also great, I enjoyed reading about her so much, her journey was fun to go on.

What I love about this book is how it actually flows through the plot, there are no boring parts or simply any parts that felt out of place, everything furthered the story or the characters in the most perfect way. So, I fully recommend this book and am so thankful to the author for giving me the chance to find it. I'd never even heard if this book before and that would've meant I'd miss out on one epic story.

Lex Knightley is keeping count. It's been seventy-five days since Quin left for Los Angeles. Seventy-five days without one word from him. Sixty-one since she made a deal with a devil. A deal she already regrets. And exactly thirty-nine days since Onyx-the deadliest emotion-altering medication yet-hit the streets, leaving an escalating body count in its wake.

With Zenigenic promising a new drug-an anti-Onyx to make the world a little kinder and a lot more compliant-it seems Xander Steele will stop at nothing to satisfy his desire for power and control. Quin's dramatic return brings more questions than answers. Lex suddenly finds herself right in the middle of it all . . . on a run for her life.

It's a race against the clock to uncover Steele's diabolical plan as the fate of San Francisco hangs in the balance. Can Lex finally fulfill her mother's ambition to expose Zenigenic-or is it already too late?

Caution: Emotion-altering medications are in the air. Find a mask. Hold your breath. Get ready for Revelation, the page-turning conclusion to the Legacy trilogy.

Mini Book Breakdown

This was bittersweet to me. I was eagerly awaiting what would happen in this series after Prophecy, the struggle to wait was so hard! I wanted this book in my hands ASAP! The book did not disappoint! It was the best in the whole series, Ellery keeps getting better with every book, the writing is flawless here! All the secrets we have been dying for is revealed. There are no loose ends, everything wraps up perfectly!

So with all of this high praise why was it bittersweet? I hate to see this awesome series end. I want more so much more. I love Quin so much and I want more of him! He's my of my book boyfriends in case you've not noticed... yeah. I'm not sorry at all.

I have followed this from the very start when the author asked me to review Legacy, I've hooked ever since. You will be too, give this trilogy a try, you won't regret it. The plot is so well thought out, the pacing is top notch, writing superb, and the characters make it perfect. I don't want to give any spoilers as this is the last book but let me tell you, it's freaking awesome!

Okay so I have something really cool to share with you, well it's cool to me at least. I finally got an iPad so I can Instagram again! I haven't really added anything new yet but I plan too! It's going to be awesome, I swear. If you want to follow me (you know you do), I will follow back anyone who has a bookish account.

So go on and just click on the link above, I don't bite.... much.

As for the other thing I wanted to share, I've been wanting to start a book club, but I'm nervous to go it alone, so I'm looking for either one or two people to join with me. We can work on a name for the book club together, so it's something we all like. As for how it would work out, we could start like a goodreads group and every month we decide on a book, read it, do the goodreads thing and also post reviews to ours blogs, along with questions about the books that the others write.

For example, I write 5 questions about the book as do the other(s) in the book club and we have to answer the questions and such. Something fun and just to get talking about books. I am also open to any ideas that you would have if you wanted to join me in this.

So little Doves, just let me know below in the comments if you would like to join me on this, it would be really fun,

The Feature & Follow is hosted by TWO hosts, Parajunkee and Alison Can Read.

This Week's Prompt
3 Favorite Book Boyfriends, books they're in, and why you'll always love them.

This aren't in any order as I could never pick my number one favorite. This was also the hardest thing I've ever done, just choosing three... the struggles were real guys, so very real.

1) Daemon Black (Lux Series)
So why I will always love him, he's perfect. That's pretty much the short version. I can go on and on about how wonderful he is and I did in my review for the latest book in the Lux series.

2) Morpheus
Yes, he's awesome. I still wish things had worked the way I wanted in that series, No spoilers I promise but I love him to pieces. I would take him as a boyfriend any day of the week. I mean come on, wouldn't you want him?

3) Zero Kiryu
I used to be a huge Kaname fan and wanted him to win but then after reading the whole series, Zero stole my heart and I have no regrets at all. I love the guy to death and would read any series with him in it. If you've never read manga and want to get into it than this is the one to start with. It's great. My favorite manga of all times. Nothing is better than this manga or anime at least to me.
