Birthstone Book Tag

I saw this tag over at Just Another Bookish Blog  (awesome blog by the way) and I just had to do it. No I wasn't tagged but it looks so fun!  1) January   Garnet -- Associated with warding off negative forces and dark energies  Name a book with the darkest/evilest character you can think of.  So the darkest/evilest character? Hmmm I'm going to have to say Voldemort. I mean off the top of my head I can think no one else more evil than him. 2) February  Amethyst - Associated with royalty Name a book with regal qualities. you can name the characters, or choose the King of all books. The King of all books... well my favorite book is A Court of Mist and Fury so that's the king of all books. 3) March Aquamarine - Washed out  Name a ‘wishy-washy’ character, a character who is not strong or a follower.  Well... for this I'm actually going to go with America from the Selection series. If you've read this series than I'm sure you know what I mean. 4) April (My Birth Month

50/50 Friday - Character most/least likely to curl up on a couch and read a book

50/50 Friday is a weekly meme hosted by myself and the wonderful Laura from Blue Eye Books , What is 50/50 Friday?  Everyone has a favorite and then we also have something we dislike. Like a coin, there are two sides to every question. Example: best sequel you've read/worst sequel you've read. This Week's Topic Character most/least likely to curl up on a couch and read a book. This week is a topic I've been looking forward to, it's one I got the answers for so quickly it was not even funny. I didn't even have to think about this one. For someone who'd read a book, I have Katy from the Luz Series! I mean she had curled up on the sofa and read before so this is already true ha ha. For someone I can't see curling on the sofa to read... this would have to be Elias from An Ember in the Ashes. I just don't think he'll ever get the time. His life is way too busy. Also, I'm sure in his free time he'd rather do other things. So what about you? Le

Manga Monday - Hot Gimmick Volume 2

So another Monday, another manga review, because I love manga. Honestly, I don't care much for American comics at all. Which is why I don't review any on my blog. But I'm such a fan of anything Japanese that of course I would love their comics as well. When high school girl Hatsumi has to go buy a pregnancy test because her popular sister Akane is 'late,' who does she run into but her creepy bully neighbour Ryoki. And now he's blackmailing her to become his slave! How will mild-mannered Hatsumi get out of this mess? Will Hatsumi's childhood crush (and male model) Azusa be able to save her from Ryoki's clutches? Our heroine Hatsumi is on Cloud 9 when male model and childhood buddy Azusa asks her to be his girlfriend, but all is not as well as it seems: Hatsumi still has to get out from under the creepy clutches of her 'master' Ryoki, who insists on continuing to blackmail her. In addition, on the night of her first date with Azusa, Hatsumi's d

The next day, she finds that someone has continued the lyrics on the desk and added a message to her. Intrigue! Soon, Lily and her anonymous pen pal are exchanging full-on letters—sharing secrets, recommending bands, and opening up to each other. Lily realizes she’s kind of falling for this letter writer. Only, who is he? As Lily attempts to unravel the mystery and juggle school, friends, crushes, and her crazy family, she discovers that matters of the heart can’t always be spelled out… Book Breakdown So at first when I got this book from Owlcrate, I wasn't sure if I wanted to read it. It sounded okay but then again I'm not that into contemporary reads. I had just read The Lovely Reckless though and wanted another super easy read. That's what I consider all contemporary reads, easy. There isn't much to world building to them and no new words we

50/50 Friday - Best/Worst Villain

This meme is hosted my myself and the wonderful Laura from Blue Eye Books . What is 50/50 Friday?  Everyone has a favorite and then we also have something we dislike. Like a coin, there are two sides to every question. Example: best sequel you've read/worst sequel you've read. This Week's Topic Best/Worst Villain an Author has Ever Created. So this one is pretty easy for me. The way I see if a villain is good or bad is their character. Why are they bad? What made them turn that way? So a bad villain would be the King from The Selection series. He's really just an asshole, he was one even before he became king.  A good villain would have to be Queen Levana from the Lunar Chronicles. I think her background made her who she was, she wasn't always an evil witch. This this was done perfectly! So what do you guys think? Let me know below or don't forget to link up!

Untitled Beauty - ARC Review

Eleven. A name. A title. A sentence passed. If you aren’t a Beauty, you’re less than a person. You’re a commodity known as a Potential… and you only have so many chances to qualify as a human being. In her seventeen years, Eleven has seen the best and worst in humanity. She’s been passed around and abused by the bad. She’s hoped and dreamed for the good. And she’s despaired for the hand she’s been dealt. Now she’s been purchased by a wealthy man who has the ability to improve her life and help her become a Beauty – if she can put up with his erratic and controlling personality for long enough, that is. Complicating things is the appearance of a stunningly beautiful young man with amethyst eyes who treats Eleven to the rarest form of attention for a Potential: kindness. Does Eleven trust her powerful owner to help her escape this life of servitude and enslavement, or does she gamble everything on the enigmatic young man who seems to offer her more than she could ever imagine possible? Lessons in Gravity - ARC Mini Review

All eyes are on Josh Knox… Fearless. Guarded. Cut-to-perfection. Daredevil rock climber. The best in the world. This time he’s poised to scale Yosemite’s notoriously treacherous Sorcerer Spire, with Walkabout Media & Productions filming every move. April Stephens’s dream to be a documentary filmmaker rests on her acing her internship with Walkabout, and that means getting the abrasive Josh to give her more than one-word answers in his interviews. The problem is, with every step forward professionally, she and Josh are also taking a step forward personally, and after watching her stunt pilot father die in a fiery crash, a guy who risks his life for a living is the last person she should be falling for. Especially because in one month her internship will have them dangling three thousand feet in the air from the side of the Sorcerer. She’ll be filming. He’ll be climbing without a rope. Book Breakdown *This was given to me through NetGalley for an honest review* This was such a cute r

50/50 Friday - Book to Movie

This meme is hosted my myself and the wonderful Laura from Blue Eye Books . What is 50/50 Friday?  Everyone has a favorite and then we also have something we dislike. Like a coin, there are two sides to every question. Example: best sequel you've read/worst sequel you've read. This Week's Topic  Book to the big screen/Never to the big screen So I book I would love to see as a movie and one I'd never want to see... hmm...  I'm that weird person that gets kind of nervous any time I hear a book I like is going to become a movie. While I would love to see my favorite book a movie or TV series, I get nervous that they will ruin it.  So a book I would never want to see as a movie would be Daughter of Smoke & Bone. The main reason would be the shitty CGI. Yeah, we all know that it would happen and it would ruin the movie. It would take away all the wonderful imagery from this book. It would also have to be cut so much that we would lose too much of this rich story that

A Court of Mist and Fury - Review

Feyre survived Amarantha's clutches to return to the Spring Court—but at a steep cost. Though she now has the powers of the High Fae, her heart remains human, and it can't forget the terrible deeds she performed to save Tamlin's people. Nor has Feyre forgotten her bargain with Rhysand, High Lord of the feared Night Court. As Feyre navigates its dark web of politics, passion, and dazzling power, a greater evil looms—and she might be key to stopping it. But only if she can harness her harrowing gifts, heal her fractured soul, and decide how she wishes to shape her future—and the future of a world cleaved in two. With more than a million copies sold of her beloved Throne of Glass series, Sarah J. Maas's masterful storytelling brings this second book in her seductive and action-packed series to new heights. Book Breakdown  I read this huge book in two days, two days while pulling 13 hour shifts. I slept little and didn't get much done at work but I don't even care!

Manga Monday - Hot Gimmick Volume 1

Manga Monday! It's been a while since I've done one of these. I have been reading more manga again and I felt the need to bring it back, maybe I should really start doing it weekly and make it a true meme. What do you guys think?  When high school girl Hatsumi has to go buy a pregnancy test because her popular sister Akane is "late," who does she run into but her creepy bully neighbor Ryoki! And now he's blackmailing her to become his slave! How will mild-mannered Hatsumi get out of this mess? Will Hatsumi's childhood crush (and male model) Azusa be able to save her from Riyoki's clutches? Manga Breakdown  This series is going to be very strange and the main character makes me want to pull my hair out. She's so stupid. I hate to say it that way but she truly is stupid. She's also very sweet and cares so much about her family.  In fact everything starts when she is told by her little, slutty and sometimes bratty little sister, to go and get her a pr
