50/50 Friday - Best/Worst Book Read in June

This fun meme is hosted by myself and the wonderful Laura from Blue Eye Books . What is 50/50 Friday?  Everyone has a favorite and then we also have something we dislike. Like a coin, there are two sides to every question. Example: best sequel you've read/worst sequel you've read. Topic for the Week Best/Worst Book Read in June I have two really good reads for this month, even though I didn't read a lot. Best Worst Topic for Next Week Favorite/Least Favorite Supernatural Being

Sex in Young Adult Books - Thursday's Discussion

This has gotten better in recent years but it's still got a long way to go. I still read books that completely skip the sex or they don't even attempt sex or even talk about it at all. Not to mention that I have not read more than 6-8 YA books that even attempts sex with LGBT+ characters.  So before I go further, I am not saying that every YA needs to be dirty and full of sex. No, no, no. I just think the publishers need to be aware that their audience of teens do in fact have sex. Not all teens of course, there were ones like me that weren't or there are asexuals. So not everyone is. But when I was growing up at age 15, more of my friends were having sex than those that weren't.  So to not even bring up sex in YA is not true to life. Even if the the characters were to decide they aren't ready for sex, that's cool. They should still talk about it though. It's a natural part of life. Does this mean every single book should go into the full description and jus

Music Monday - SHINee

This meme is hosted over at  Always Me . So I love me some K-Pop. I like the older generation more than the groups coming out now. I'm a huge GG, SHINee, BIGBANG, SUPER JUNIOR, and those kind of groups girl. Though I do love BLACKPINK... they are like the only new group I like right now.  So I wanted to share some of my favorite SHINee songs and the song that got me into K-Pop because it was the group SHINee that caused me to fall in love with this wonderful music. And now for the song that started my love for K-Pop years ago....

Shadowhunter Sunday - Those of Demon Blood (EP 13)

Cue theme song I love how the picture is on Alec. So Jace is the new head of the Institute. Downworlders are attacking Shadowhunters, sounds like a fun episode so far. Also Jace pinning after Clary. Alright. Simon a leader... right. Magnus getting mad over that? Really? What is Alec to do, not follow the rules and get in trouble? Or worse, let them think Magnus is a part of it and the clave would attack him? I just don't get it.  Simon was getting angry too. If you didn't do anything then you have nothing to hide... I'd give my hair up in a heartbeat.  Aw Max is too cute. He's so eager to get out in the field.  Awww Simon just wants to stay with her. That's so not cool. Poor Simon. He made a point, he brought Clary in. He should have got to stay with her. Wow, she really wants to chip all Downworlders. That's bloody insane. They aren't freaking animals. They are people like everyone else. Not cool.  I don't blame Maia for getting angry at this. I would b

50/50 Friday - Favorite/Least Favorite Format of Books

This fun meme is hosted by myself and the wonderful Laura from Blue Eye Books . What is 50/50 Friday?  Everyone has a favorite and then we also have something we dislike. Like a coin, there are two sides to every question. Example: best sequel you've read/worst sequel you've read. Topic for the Week Favorite/Least Favorite Format of Books Favorite My favorite is hardcovers. I love how the cover will not bend or crease, I love how the cover comes off and I can use it as a poster if I want. Plus, the smell of the pages... oh it's heaven you guys. Just heaven.  Least Favorite  I'll freely admit that back when these first came out and my mother got one... I stuck up my nose to her. I was a full on book prude. I thought these weren't real books, they weren't as good. Now I see that they are great. Cheaper books (sometimes), it doesn't hurt trees, and it's so freaking light! This came in handy back when I was going through all my major health problems and coul

Pride Month! - LGBTQ+ Book Recommendations

So I've done the gay, lesbian, and now it's time to show off some books that feature genderfluid, trans,  intersex, or pansexual books. I could not find as many for these three so I decided to put them together.  Publishers, get on this! If I've missed some let me know below! I'd love to know as many as possible. Also someone else may be interested as well.  1) Symptoms of Being Human (Genderfluid) The first thing you’re going to want to know about me is: Am I a boy, or am I a girl? Riley Cavanaugh is many things: Punk rock. Snarky. Rebellious. And gender fluid. Some days Riley identifies as a boy, and others as a girl. The thing is…Riley isn’t exactly out yet. And between starting a new school and having a congressman father running for reelection in uber-conservative Orange County, the pressure—media and otherwise—is building up in Riley’s so-called “normal” life. On the advice of a therapist, Riley starts an anonymous blog to vent those pent-up feelings and tell the

Top Ten Tuesday - Series I've Been Meaning to Start but Haven't

This meme is hosted by The Broke and the Bookish . So I'm sure we all have a lot of series we have meant to start but just haven't gotten around to it. There are tons of series for me. So this list was easy to make. Here we go! 10) Shane and Trey (Enemies to Lovers) Shane is a little bit screwed. He has just started college and is stuck rooming with that bastard Trey. His sister's boyfriend. His sister's damn fine boyfriend. Uh-oh. This so wasn't going to happen. But try as he might, there's just a little too much to ignore between the two of them... Also this is New Adult so there are sexy times. Just warning. 9) Bloodlines (Bloodlines Series)  I wasn't free of my past, not yet. Sydney's blood is special. That's because she's an alchemist - one of a group of humans who dabble in magic and serve to bridge the worlds of humans and vampires. They protect vampire secrets - and human lives. But the last encounter Sydney had with vampires got her in d

Music Monday - Melanie Martinez

This fun weekly meme is hosted over at Always Me . Lovely blog, you all should check it out if you don't follow it already. So let's get into some alternative music, which happens to be my favorite genre of music. So much good stuff there and it's such a broad term that so much is under it. Favorite Lyrics  Places, places, get in your places Throw on your dress and put on your doll faces Everyone thinks that we're perfect Please don't let them look through the curtains Favorite Lyrics  Tell you a secret, I'm not alarmed So what if I'm crazy? The best people are All the best people are crazy.

Shadowhunter Sunday - You Are Not Your Own (Episode 12)

Alright cue the theme music and let's get on with this! This episode was actually really good! One of my favorites so far!  Magnus and Valentine switched bodies, which kind of makes sense after the last episode and it's something I didn't see coming.  Alec doesn't like Sebastian.... it seems he doesn't like very many new comers at all. I guess he has to warm up to them. Sounds like my little sister ha ha. I hate how Clary feels useless without her ruins. It's sad that she's willing to be a lab rat just to feel like she is worth something. She shouldn't feel that way. She could always just train more and be a badass shadowhunter.  Valentine/Magnus got Dot to help with his powers. She's not the brightest star in the sky. She even commented saying he sounded like Valentine but just shrugged it off and helped him I'm assuming.   Izzy seems to be doing a lot better now. I'm happy to see that. I was missing this Izzy a lot. The druggie Izzy wasn

Alex & Eliza - Book Breakdown

Their romance shaped a nation. The rest was history. 1777. Albany, New York.  As battle cries of the American Revolution echo in the distance, servants flutter about preparing for one of New York society’s biggest events: the Schuylers’ grand ball. Descended from two of the oldest and most distinguished bloodlines in New York, the Schuylers are proud to be one of their fledgling country’s founding families, and even prouder still of their three daughters—Angelica, with her razor-sharp wit; Peggy, with her dazzling looks; and Eliza, whose beauty and charm rival that of both her sisters, though she’d rather be aiding the colonists’ cause than dressing up for some silly ball.  Still, she can barely contain her excitement when she hears of the arrival of one Alexander Hamilton, a mysterious, rakish young colonel and General George Washington’s right-hand man. Though Alex has arrived as the bearer of bad news for the Schuylers, he can’t believe his luck—as an orphan, and a bastard one at th

50/50 Friday - Favorite/Least Favorite Book Read this Year so Far...

This meme is hosted here and over at Blue Eye Books . What is 50/50 Friday?  Everyone has a favorite and then we also have something we dislike. Like a coin, there are two sides to every question. Example: best sequel you've read/worst sequel you've read. Topic for the Week Favorite/Least favorite book of the first half of the year So my least favorite book I've read this year would have to be..... Witches of East End This one hurt so bad because I love this author! LOVE! I just didn't love this series though... I don't know why but to me it was just boring. It pains to me to say that but it's true.  Best I know you guys are probably sick of me talking about this amazing book but I just can't help it. A book has never made me feel the way this book did. It just connected with me on such a high level that... ugh. I can't even put it into words really. It's just soooo good.  Sad Perfect Topic for Next Week Favorite/Least favorite format of books (HC, P
