Freebie! - Favorite/Least Favorite Ship

Least Favorite - Chaol and Celaena
Yeah before You Know Who came into the picture I was a huge Dorian fan. I still am. I love him. I've not read Tower of Dawn yet so... I know some people have said that Chaol gets better in that one but I just think... I just don't like him. Let's leave it there.

Favorite Ships
Geez... I could name so many so let's do this!

Feyre and Rhysand (A Court of Thorns and Roses Series)

Alec and Magnus (The Mortal Instruments Series)

Amber and Rylen (Unknown Series)

Katy and Daemon (Lux Series)

Cam and Avery (Wait for You Series)

Sascha and Lucus (Psy-Changeling Series)

I think that's enough for now... I could go on and on lol.

House of Earth and Blood - Cover Reveal!

Half-Fae, half-human Bryce Quinlan loves her life. By day, she works for an antiquities dealer, selling barely legal magical artifacts, and by night, she parties with her friends, savouring every pleasure Lunathion—otherwise known as Crescent City— has to offer. But it all comes crumbling down when a ruthless murder shakes the very foundations of the city—and Bryce’s world.

Two years later, her job has become a dead end, and she now seeks only blissful oblivion in the city’s most notorious nightclubs. But when the murderer attacks again, Bryce finds herself dragged into the investigation and paired with an infamous Fallen angel whose own brutal past haunts his every step.

Hunt Athalar, personal assassin for the Archangels, wants nothing to do with Bryce Quinlan, despite being ordered to protect her. She stands for everything he once rebelled against and seems more interested in partying than solving the murder, no matter how close to home it might hit. But Hunt soon realizes there’s far more to Bryce than meets the eye—and that he’s going to have to find a way to work with her if they want to solve this case.

As Bryce and Hunt race to untangle the mystery, they have no way of knowing the threads they tug ripple through the underbelly of the city, across warring continents, and down to the darkest levels of Hel, where things that have been sleeping for millennia are beginning to stir...

My Thoughts

As far as I know, this just came up today and I'm in love with it! It's stunning! I can't wait till January! I really can't wait to read this novel. It's her first full adult novel from what I know and I'm happy for it! Her writing was always more NA or adult rather than YA.

Undaunted by Ronnie Douglas aka Melissa Marr

Following in the tradition of Kristen Ashley, Joanna Wilde, and Jay Crownover, this first novel in a sexy, dark New Adult series tells the thrilling story of a young woman who finds herself drawn to a Southern motorcycle club’s inner circle—and a dangerously hot biker.

Aubrey Evans needs to get her life back on track after her father is indicted for embezzlement. She’ll save college tuition money, hightail it out of small-town Tennessee, and steer clear of hard-muscled boys on motorcycles. Yet there’s no ignoring someone like Zion. A knight in black leather, Zion looks like every bad idea she’s been told to avoid, but she can’t resist him. Whenever she’s in trouble, he’s there. Appealing as his rough exterior may be, it’s the protective, principled man beneath that tempts her like crazy.

Zion knows Aubrey doesn’t intend to stick around. She claims to want only friendship, but he senses there’s a naughty girl hiding on the inside—one whose intense desires match his own. For now, he’ll be patient and play by her rules. Though he knows it’s just a matter of time before he weakens her resolve.

As they join forces to figure out who’s behind a local crime spree, it’s clear that the danger goes deeper than Aubrey guessed. And when she needs someone tall, dark, and undaunted to keep her safe, Zion intends to be there—now and always.

Book Breakdown

I love Melisa Marr, she was one of the first YA authors that I ever fell in love with. So when I saw that she had written a NA romance novel I was FREAKING excited. Now, I've not been reading as much recently because of life but I read this one pretty quickly. Parts had me biting my lip wondering what was going to happen and then other parts were just so cheesy...

I mean, I love HEA ending and this has one of those but I'm not the biggest fan of full-on cheese. This end was just too much. Every single thing turned out perfectly without any serious problems. I mean, what about poor Dash? What happened to him?

The writing was great. No issues there at all. Melisa Mar is a great writer with every single book she puts out. The tone for the book is great, smooth throughout, nothing out of place. Honestly, I just wanted something else when I read this book. It's not a bad book by any means. I just thought I was in for something darker from a MC novel. That's where I'm getting so hung up. It's not dark, it's pretty light and fluffy. So if you're in the mood for a novel that will leave you smiling and happy inside, this is for you!

This meme is hosted over at Always Me

Another 80's edition to add to the mix. So come along with me.

Favorite Lyrics

People dancing all in the street
See the rhythm all in their feet
Life is good, wild and sweet
Let the music play on
Feel it in your heart and feel it in your soul
Let the music take control, we going to
Parti', liming, fiesta, forever
Come on and sing my song

Favorite Lyrics

You hear laughter
Cracking through the walls
It sends you spinning
You have no choice
Following the footsteps
Of a rag doll dance

Books & Music - Taylor Swift's Reputation

I love music and reading and usually while reading, I'm always listening to something. As long as my partner isn't home, I have music on.

How does this work? I've chosen an album and for that album, I must name a book I think fits each song. If you have any albums that you want me to do this with, let me know below!

For this post, we are going to talk about the only album that I've bought fully in over five years. That album is none other than Reputation!

You can click the link to listen to the whole album or go song by song if you'd like. I hope you enjoy!

1) ...Ready for It? 2) End Game 3) I Did Something Bad
4) Don't Blame Me 5) Delicate 6) Look What You Made Me Do
7) So It Goes... 8) Gorgeous 9) Getaway Car
10) King of My Heart 11) Dancing with Our Hands Tied
12) Dress 13) This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things
14) Call It What You Want 15) New Year's Day

1) ...Ready for It?
Some, some boys are tryin' too hard
He don't try at all, though
I mean, does this not fit Daemon Black? If you've read this amazing series then you know what I mean. If you've not read this series, then get to it! It's freaking fantastic!

2) End Game
Big reputation, big reputation
Ooh you and me we got big reputations, ah
And you heard about me, ooh
I got some big enemies
This fits a little more as you go into the series deeper but I don't want to spoil anything. Just read the series and you'll get it.

3) I Did Something Bad
They say I did something bad
Then why's it feel so good?
They say I did something bad
But why's it feel so good?
Most fun I ever had
And I'd do it over and over and over again if I could
It just felt so good, good
I mean she's having an intimate relationship with her professor. That's pretty bad.

4) Don't Blame Me
Don't blame me, love made me crazy
If it doesn't, you ain't doin' it right (doin' it right, no)
Lord, save me, my drug is my baby
I'd be usin' for the rest of my life, oh
This whole series is about mates. Which fits this song pretty dang well I think.

5) Delicate
Sometimes I wonder when you sleep
Are you ever dreaming of me?
Sometimes when I look into your eyes
I pretend you're mine, all the damn time
'Cause I like you
I mean towards the middle to the end of the book... you know this could fit for Garrett.

6) Look What You Made Me Do
I don't like your little games
Don't like your tilted stage
The role you made me play
Of the fool, no, I don't like you
I don't like your perfect crime
How you laugh when you lie
You said the gun was mine
Isn't cool, no, I don't like you
I mean.... without spoilers... this fits Cinder pretty well.

7) So It Goes...
And our pieces fall
Right into place
Get caught up in the moments
Lipstick on your face
So it goes
I'm yours to keep
And I'm yours to lose
You know I'm not a bad girl, but I
Do bad things with you
I don't like this series.... never could finish the first book but to me this fits. Ana is a good girl that does naughty things with Christian.

8) Gorgeous
You're so gorgeous
I can't say anything to your face
'Cause look at your face
I feel like this is Evie when it comes to Luc.

9) Getaway Car
We were jet-set, Bonnie and Clyde
Until I switched to the other side
To the other si-i-i-i-ide
It's no surprise I turned you in
'Cause us traitors never win
No spoilers but this really fits a certain character in this one that if you've read, you know who I mean and if you've not read this one...

10) King of My Heart
And all at once, you are the one I have been waiting for
King of my heart, body and soul, ooh whoa
And all at once, you are the one I have been waiting for
King of my heart, body and soul, ooh whoa
And all at once, you're all I want, I'll never let you go
King of my heart, body and soul, ooh whoa
This fits the couple in this book so much and it reminds me of them when I hear it.

11) Dancing with Our Hands Tied
I could've spent forever with your hands in my pockets
Picture of your face in an invisible locket
You said there was nothing in the world that could stop it
I had a bad feeling
And darling, you had turned my bed into a sacred oasis
People started talking, putting us through our paces
I knew there was no one in the world who could take it
I had a bad feeling
I know I know, this is a movie not a book but I love this movie and it fits here for me. It was actually the only thing I could think of that fits here. #sorrynotsorry

12) Dress
Say my name and everything just stops
I don't want you like a best friend
Only bought this dress so you could take it off, take it off (ha, ha, ha, ha)
Carve your name into my bedpost
'Cause I don’t want you like a best friend
Only bought this dress so you could take it off, take it off (ha, ha, ha, ha)
This is the best friends to lovers song and this book is just that.

13) This Is Why We Can't Have Nice Things
This is why we can't have nice things, darling
Because you break them
I had to take them away
This is why we can't have nice things, honey
Did you think I wouldn't hear all the things you said about me?
This is why we can't have nice things
Just read the book and you'll understand.

14) Call It What You Want
My baby's fit like a daydream
Walking with his head down
I'm the one he's walking to
So call it what you want, yeah, call it what you want to
My baby's fly like a jet stream
High above the whole scene
Loves me like I'm brand new
This isn't a spoiler... the next book coming out this summer is all about the guy that Layla didn't pick so... anyway, this one reminds me of Roth and Layla and it's cute.

15) New Year's Day
You squeeze my hand three times in the back of the taxi
I can tell that it's going to be a long road
I'll be there if you're the toast of the town babe
Or if you strike out and you're crawling home
Jace and Clary are such an amazing couple and they really are there for the other no matter what. This song fits them I think.

Panic Attack: Young Radicals in the Age of Trump by Robby Soave - Review

Since the 2016 election, college campuses have erupted in violent protests, demands for safe spaces, and the silencing of views that activist groups find disagreeable. Who are the leaders behind these protests, and what do they want? In Panic Attack, libertarian journalist Robby Soave answers these questions by profiling young radicals from across the political spectrum.

Millennial activism has risen to new heights in the age of Trump. Although Soave may not personally agree with their motivations and goals, he takes their ideas seriously, approaching his interviews with a mixture of respect and healthy skepticism. The result is a faithful cross-section of today's radical youth, which will appeal to libertarians, conservatives, centrist liberals, and anyone who is alarmed by the trampling of free speech and due process in the name of social justice.

Book Breakdown

*I received this for free in exchange for an honest review*

I don't think this was quite the right book for me, not because it's a bad book but because I already knew everything the author was talking about. I've been following all the 'radical' news since it started to effect the book community. So I know just how... passionate these kind of people are. Now, I will say that it also talks about the alt-alright and discusses them as well. What I loved was how he showed the older generations and how they went after things and how my generation does it today. That was awesome. While I don't agree with everything the author says, it was pretty nifty seeing some of this stuff through another's eyes. As long as those are eyes are still reasonable and not so far gone down the rabbit hole on either side.

“I think of safety as the right of every person to leave their house or to leave wherever they live, to walk this world and to feel safe and comfortable in their own skin, in their own ways that they identify, and to not fear violence, not fear prejudice, not fear discrimination, to not fear being bothered or to not fear living."

(A Very Late) - April Wrap Up!

April was crazy and I didn't get to read as much as I wanted but between battling colds, allergies, chest pain, some of the best news of my life, my birthday, and just all kinds of crazy stuff.... I think nine books is pretty dang good. Now, let's talk about those books, shall we?

NETGALLEY

Again, but Better
(Review
This one... it's really hyped and most everyone loves it but... well, it you want to know, just read my review.

Journeying Between the Worlds: Walking with the Sacred Spirits Through Native American Shamanic Teachings & Practices
I loved reading this. Any time I can learn more about Native teaching, the better.

Jaws of the Wolf
Not bad by any means but I wanted more romance.

Panic Attack: Young Radicals in the Age of Trump
(Review Coming Soon!)
This one talks about all this political stuff from a more... center kind of view. It really told me nothing that I didn't know but I do like how it talks about the extreme left and right. Though while it talks more about the extreme left... it denounces the extreme right more. I don't want anyone attacking me so I will say that I don't agree with everything the author says and will leave it at that.

DNF

The Warlord's Concubine: A Fantasy Romance
I don't even want to talk about this one anymore. I talked a little about in a past 50/50 Friday and I will link to my Goodreads review because I didn't want to review it on here.

REREAD

Captive Prince Volume 2
I love this series so much and I wanted to reread this one.

RAYTHE REIGN

Now, what is Raythe Reign? It's this website full of of really good m/m romance serials. It's even got some awesome manga! It's not quite a normal site, you pay $9.99 a month and you get something new every single day. A new page of an epic manga or a new chapter to an awesome ongoing story. I found it last month and have been in love with it ever since. I'm not sponsored by them or anything, I just love the service.

Devil's Ridge
(The Dark Earth Manga #1)
If you're going to read this series, make sure to buy them form her website! Amazon won't even allow one of the novels to be on their site.

Hidden Past
(The Dark Earth Manga #2)
The series keeps getting better and better!

The Dark Champion
There is no review for this one as this is the novel version of the manga. The novel came first I believe. It just goes into more detail than the novel but it's well worth the read! I love this story so freaking much!

FAVORITE READ OF THE MONTH

Punk 57
I really can't gush about this book enough. I couldn't put it down! I loved this baby so freaking that I had to go out and buy the paperback after reading it on Kindle Unlimited.

Music Monday - The 80's

This meme is hosted over at Always Me

Now we are going to dive into the 80's were my favorite music of all time came from, that music would be goth music by the way. That being said, let's just jump into it!

Favorite Lyrics

But I'm ready, yes, I'm ready for you
I'm standing on my own two feet
Out of the doorway the bullets rip
Repeating to the sound of the beat oh yeah

Favorite Lyrics

I'm not the kinda girl who gives up just like that, oh no
It's not the things you do that tease and hurt me bad
But it's the way you do the things you do to me
I'm not the kinda girl who gives up just like that, oh no

50/50 Friday - Freebie! (Character Most/Least Likely to Run in Sleet)

50/50 Friday is hosted here and over at Blue Eye Books

So that's what 50/50 Friday is all about. We will have a new topic every Friday. If you have have ideas for this meme don't be scared to let me know!

Topic for the Week
I've chosen one from 2017. Which I thought was a fun topic.
Freebie! - Most/Least Likely to go Running in Sleet

Least Likely - Mimi Force (Blue Bloods Series)
She cares WAY too much about how she looks to ever ruin her outfit by running in sleet.
Most Likely - Daemon Black (Lux Series)
He loves to run and being what he is, I doubt sleet would slow him down any.

Storm & Fury by JLA - ARC Review

Eighteen-year-old Trinity Marrow may be going blind, but she can see and communicate with ghosts and spirits. Her unique gift is part of a secret so dangerous that she’s been in hiding for years in an isolated compound fiercely guarded by Wardens—gargoyle shape-shifters who protect humankind from demons. If the demons discover the truth about Trinity, they’ll devour her, flesh and bone, to enhance their own powers.

When Wardens from another clan arrive with disturbing reports that something out there is killing both demons and Wardens, Trinity’s safe world implodes. Not the least because one of the outsiders is the most annoying and fascinating person she’s ever met. Zayne has secrets of his own that will upend her world yet again—but working together becomes imperative once demons breach the compound and Trinity’s secret comes to light. To save her family and maybe the world, she’ll have to put her trust in Zayne. But all bets are off as a supernatural war is unleashed…

ARC Breakdown

I received this ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review. I read and reviewed this title voluntarily.

Okay, I will start off my saying that the original trilogy has a special place in my heart. It was the very first series that I ever read by Jennifer and it made me fall in love with her writing and characters. She's now one of my favorite authors. Not only was it the first titles I ever read by her but White Hot Kiss was the first book I ever reviewed on my blog. It made me want to start a blog to talk about this epic series and Roth.

So now that you know how much The Dark Elements mean to me, you'll know why I think this isn't as good but that in no way means it's bad. I enjoyed this novel! It was a little hard to get into but once it started, I just couldn't put it down! I love Trinity! She's badass, smart and not scared to jump into a fight. She's so strong and confident. She's also vulnerable because of her eyesight. I love how she doesn't let her condition get to her or stop her from living life. As someone who suffers with chronic pain, it's really nice to see someone still living a full life.

Zayne... I mean he's Zayne. I loved him in the first series and I still love him now, just not as much as Roth. He's still as awesome and protective as ever. I think he and Trinity work well together. I also love how this one isn't a love triangle but a forbidden romance so you can get a little bit of both awesome tropes from this series.

The writing is as awesome as ever. I mean, it's JLA, come on. You know it's good. The story moves at a good pace once it gets going. That's my only compliant, the beginning is so slow. It took me a while to get into the story. But once you make it through that first little bit, it's full of JLA goodness. I'm happy to be back in this world... even if we aren't following Roth and Layla. At least we do get to see them in here and that just made my little black heart so happy.

You also don't have to read the original series to read this one but I do fully suggest you do because otherwise, you're missing out on something fan-freaking-tastic! Overall, another really good JLA book.

Music Monday - The 2000's (3)

This meme is hosted over at Always Me

After all that 90's sound, I thought we'd take a small break and jump back into the 2000s before heading into the 80's. Here we go!

Favorite Lyrics

Easy for a good girl to go bad
And once we gone (Gone)
Best believe we've gone forever
Don't be the reason
Don't be the reason
You better learn how to treat us right
'Cause once a good girl goes bad
We die forever

Favorite Lyrics

From my hands, I could give you
Something that I made
From my mouth, I could sing you another brick that I laid
From my body, I could show you a place God knows
You should know the space is holy
Do you really want to go?

50/50 Friday - Freebie! (Best/Worst Book an Author has Published

50/50 Friday is a weekly meme hosted by myself and the wonderful Laura from Blue Eye Books.

What is 50/50 Friday?
Everyone has a favorite and then we also have something we dislike. Like a coin, there are two sides to every question. Example: best sequel you've read/worst sequel you've read.

This month is all about the freebies! So I decided to go back and find a topic from way back in 2016. Right when this meme was just a month old. That topic is:
Best/Worst Book an Author has Published

Last time I chose Veronica Roth and I wanted to keep her but my opinion of her books has changed since then. So here we go!

Worst Book
It's been years since I read this book so I don't remember all the details but I know that I hated this book. I LOVED Divergent and still do.... the rest of the series and with the ending... I'm not a fan of bitter sweet or even sad endings. So this one wasn't for me.

Best Book
I won't say much about this because I have a huge review laid out. It's one I'm actually proud of. I will say that this book blew me away and just showed how freaking amazing of a storyteller this author really is.

Review - The Dark Earth Manga (Volume 1)

Aidan has always dreamed of a different life, one that was somehow more than what he knew. Desperate times force him and his adoptive family to move to Grandfather Patrick’s house on Devil’s Ridge, a tiny, rural town, that is far more than what it seems.

On the Ridge, Aidan finds a world filled with magic, monsters and terrifying beauty. He has discovered his “different life” but it isn’t at all what he expected, and not all of it is good.

With most of the townspeople involved in the Clan, a dark cult, and Grandfather Patrick as the Clan’s head, Aidan knows he isn’t just imagining that the whole town is out to get him. When Aidan is lured by an ancient force literally in his own backyard, he is rescued by the mysterious and handsome Asher Vane, who his grandfather calls a “demon”. Is Asher something terrible? More importantly, is Aidan?

Manga Breakdown

I did read this from the website Raythe Reign so nothing was censored by Amazon. Which I prefer, I abhor censorship. So this series does show graphic content. One of the volumes isn't even available on Amazon because it's too racy? I'm not actually sure exactly why it's not as I've not gotten that far into the series.

Not a lot happens in this one. This is really just wetting your appetite while giving you all the details for what is to come! We get a little about Aidan and his family, we see that they are broke and his dad is not in the picture. We also get to know that Aidan is adopted and he's told that he's a lot like the sidhe and that his grandfather is the leader of The Clan..... a group that hates the sidhe. So there's some serious tension there!

We met Ash, who saves Aiden from falling into this sinister well. We also see just how much his grandfather hates the sidhe. Lastly, we learn that Asher is drawn to Aiden which means some wonderful romance is in the future!

The art is stunning! Not one single negative thing to say about it. The art is what drew me into the book but now the story has sunk its teeth into me and won't let go. If you love romance, manga, m/m pairings, and fantasy, you my dear, will freaking LOVE this.

His Little Wife Lie Book Blitz

His Little Wife Lie
Sloan Storm
Publication date: April 26th 2019
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance

IT’S NOT A LIE IF WE BELIEVE IT’S TRUE.

That’s what Griff Foster said right after he asked me to be his wife.
Sweet, isn’t he?

Let’s be real: his proposal had nothing to do with romance. Falling in love isn’t in his DNA. With piercing blue eyes and a hard body to match, he goes through women like candy.
But he saved my life.

I promised I’d repay him. I should learn when to keep my mouth shut.
Griff needs a Mrs. Right Now, and he’s convinced I’m the perfect actress.

In case I have any doubts, there are seven badly needed zeroes on a check with my name on it to help make up my mind.
Ugh.
We’re totally fake. Nothing but lies.

Except the way his lips feel on mine.
Except the way his touch sets my body ablaze.
Except the way my soul aches when he looks into my eyes.

He says that without me, he loses everything.
But if I’ve got the upper hand, why does it feel like he’s in control?

There’s only one thing missing from this arrangement.
What happens to my heart when it’s over?
EXCERPT:
That was it!
What kind of fucking game was he trying to play? I made a complete fool out of myself, then he tried to turn it around on me! No one was going to treat me like this, especially not him.
Once in my room, I raced toward the closet, grabbed my bag, and dragged it out. Fuck this place!
Tiny Me chimed in. No, no! Wait! What are you doing? The money!
“I don’t care about the money!” I yelped, clutching my fingers into fists. “Don’t you understand? I care about him!” Oh shit. No. No.
I sensed a presence in the doorway. “What did you say?”
“Stay away from me.” I spun in place, biting my lip and sputtering hate. “I’m leaving. You can’t stop me.”
He didn’t listen. Of course. I mean, why start now?
Marching right toward me, Griff continued, “You said you cared about me. Don’t try and deny it.”
Yeah, no kidding. You ass. “Of course, I do! Jesus! Do you know how many men I’ve offered my virginity to? Do you? Take a wild guess.”
Griff didn’t respond. What could he say? He already knew the answer.
I poked him in the chest. “Just one. Guess how that went over?”
Griff’s nostrils flared. His eyes narrowed. I was pissing him off. Well. Good! Now he knew how I felt!
“Move,” I snarled, edging past him.
I felt the handle of my suitcase rip free from my hand. By the time I turned to look and see what happened, he’d swept me up me in his arms, racing for the bed.
No!
“Put me down!” I floated in his embrace until he slammed me with a thump, pinning me beneath him. Struggle was useless, but I gave it everything I had, jerking from side-to-side until the instant his lips found mine.
Oh fuck. No! Yes. Yes. Yeeessss…
The passion from his kiss ripped through my body like wildfire, reigniting the embers he left smoldering inside of me with his refusal. Griff’s pelvis pressed into me, the impossible hardness between his legs threatened to reawaken my lust into an inferno until my wits returned.
“Stop!” I gasped, breaking my mouth free. My palms went flat, shoving against his torso. “Get off of me!”
His gaze gave me the answer. Never. Griff ignored my pleas and gripped harder, making me feel he’d crush me into dust if I uttered another word. Reaching up, I clawed and scratched, digging my nails into the steel of his thick chest. But my rage only stoked him, and he groaned, his mouth invading mine again, filling it with his tongue. My resistance turned to vapor, whisps of hate floating away from me while Griff took what he wanted.
At last, he pulled away. I looked at him, my vision glassy from the struggle, each of us fighting for a breath.
“We can’t.” I exhaled. “It’s a mistake.”
Wait. That wasn’t no. Was it?
He licked his lips and sank his pelvis deeper, driving it hard between my legs. I stifled a whimper.
“You’re right,” he hummed, reaching for one of my tits, cupping it in his grasp. Uhhh. My eyes rolled back in my head, his touch had me on the verge of blackout
“It’s the biggest mistake of all,” he warned. “No turning back. No way out.”
No way out. His words reached into my soul, giving me the answer my brain couldn’t. I don’t want one. Don’t give me one. If you do, I might take it.
Wordless, Griff moved over me, a shadow threatening the last shreds of my chastity. With my legs spread and my innocence at risk, I inched my mouth toward his lips when he whispered his final threat.
“At last.”
