Music Monday - Recent Favorites

This meme is hosted over at Always Me

It's been a while since I did something like this because I've been so into the decade stuff. Thought it was overdue. So here you go, two of my recent favorites.

I'm finally all caught up with Lucifer and just can't wait for the next and final season. I mean after that ending! My favorite season was four. It had a few problems in one episode but other than that, Netflix did a better job than the original network did. What was your favorite season if you've seen the show?

This band always pumps me up. Making me feel like I can do anything. I used to listen to them on my way to work... for the strength to actually go into the school. I swear, more power to all teachers out there. I just don't know how you do it, you're like a superhero.

A Little Sin Blitz + Giveaway

A Little Sin
Sionnach Wintergreen
Publication date: February 23rd 2018
Genres: Adult, Historical, LGBTQ+, Romance
Sheriff Avery O’Rourke has tried to obey his strict Christian faith and lead a “normal” life. In 1923 in a rural East Texas town, “normal” means heterosexual. A cholera outbreak has made Avery a young widower, so he is married to his job. When a murder investigation forces him to confront his truth, will he finally be able to accept being gay?
Veterinarian Garland Sands has returned from Europe to take over his father’s practice. Struggling with shellshock (PTSD) and heartbroken by the suicide of his French lover, he resigns himself to a quiet, solitary life as a country vet. But the murder of the town doctor brings the sheriff to Garland’s doorstep looking for help with the investigation. Seeing Avery awakens dormant feelings. Can he love a man who hates what he is?
This isn’t the lavish 1920s of The Great Gatsby. This is the flip side of that coin—rural East Texas. No electricity. No indoor plumbing. No flappers. In 1923, the timber barons have left and racism, homophobia, and sexism thrive.
A Little Sin is a realistic mystery with unlikely heroes and a timeless romance between lovers caught in a world where their love is forbidden. This book contains steamy sex scenes and is intended for adults only.
EXCERPT:
Garland watched the attractive, dark-haired man with mixed feelings. They were bonded by death and blood—just like he and the men who became his brothers in the Great War. Death had a way of pulling you into its embrace and making you family. He also felt connected to Sheriff Avery O’Rourke because they both wore masks. They were members of a velvet gang who lived on the fringes of a ruthless, heterosexual tyranny. They were shadow men.
And yet he couldn’t shake a feeling—some instinct—that Avery belonged, at least in some small degree, to many of the things he loathed. Garland had not come ‘home’ to Timberland with joy in his heart. He had fallen back to it like Icarus, his wings in tatters, his heart broken. He had returned to the red dirt and haunted forests to bury his sorrow. In front of others, he tried to keep his smile in place, but he fell apart when alone. Five years had passed since the war, and over six months had passed since he had discovered Philippe dead. He hadn’t fully recovered from either trauma; he wasn’t sure he ever would.
Ruggedly handsome Avery, with his smoky blue eyes the color of aged denim and that trim beard shading his firm jaw, could be an interesting diversion…or he could be something else entirely. For now, Garland tamped his desire down and focused on the dead man on the table. He huffed smoke. “I’ll do a thorough examination and take notes. I’ve never performed a dissection—er—autopsy—on a man before, but men are animals.”
At that, Avery bristled. “Men are God’s children. We aren’t beasts.”
Katydid hopped up on the table and sniffed the doctor’s groin. Garland stuck his cigarette in his mouth and gathered the errant calico in his arms. “Off,” he murmured through his cigarette and released her a foot off the ground. She poured out of his hands and weaved around his legs. “Men are either miracles or they’re monsters,” he told Avery. “Either way, their bodies aren’t that much different from a hog’s. Which is good for you, because I can help you with this murder case.”

Author Bio:
Sionnach (pronounced shuhn ukh) Wintergreen is a genderqueer author of gay romance, epic fantasy, and adult fantasy. (She uses feminine personal pronouns because she has lived most of her life responding to them, but she would love it if people used 'they.') Her character-driven stories usually involve misfits because she is one. Sionnach has always loved writing and animals; she was a grant writer for an animal rescue group. She lives in Austin, Texas, with her husband and six furbabies--one sweet dog and five spoiled-rotten cats. She also has a wonderful human son.

Birthday Girl - Review

JORDAN

He took me in when I had nowhere else to go.

He doesn’t use me, hurt me, or forget about me. He doesn’t treat me like I’m nothing, take me for granted, or make me feel unsafe.

He remembers me, laughs with me, and looks at me. He listens to me, protects me, and sees me. I can feel his eyes on me over the breakfast table, and my heart pumps so hard when I hear him pull in the driveway after work.

I have to stop this. It can’t happen.

My sister once told me there are no good men, and if you find one, he’s probably unavailable.

Only Pike Lawson isn’t the unavailable one.

I am.
PIKE.

I took her in, because I thought I was helping.

She’d cook a few meals and clean up a little. It was an easy arrangement.

As the days go by, though, it’s becoming anything but easy. I have to stop my mind from drifting to her and stop holding my breath every time I bump into her in the house. I can’t touch her, and I shouldn’t want to.

The more I find my path crossing hers, though, the more she’s becoming a part of me.

But we’re not free to give into this. She’s nineteen, and I’m thirty-eight.

And her boyfriend’s father.

Unfortunately, they both just moved into my house.

Book Breakdown

Jordan is trying her best to make it in life, she's far more mature than most girls her age and her home life is probably one of the reasons. When her boyfriend gets them evicted from their apartment they go to live with his father till they can get back on their feet. Well, her boyfriend is not treating her well and kind of horrible so she slowly falls for Pike, her boyfriend's amazingly wonderful father. They go through a lot to get together but the freaking journey is everything.

There's no cheating at all by Pike or Jordan and that makes me so happy. No drugs. There is an age gap which normally I don't go for, they tend to kind of turn me off but this one... I love it. It worked so well because Jordan is so mature for her age in some ways she's even more mature than Pike. I love how they grow together as characters and how Pike even learns new things.

The writing is perfect! This is a slow burn that just kept me reading way into the night. Which is something I never do, I love sleep more than anything in the world but I gave sleep up for this book! That on its own should say how amazing this book is! Like holy freaking cow, my mind is blown! I need more books like this in my life! Pure Perfection!

Twice in a Blue Moon - ARC Review

Sam Brandis was Tate Jones’s first: Her first love. Her first everything. Including her first heartbreak.

During a whirlwind two-week vacation abroad, Sam and Tate fell for each other in only the way that first loves do: sharing all of their hopes, dreams, and deepest secrets along the way. Sam was the first, and only, person that Tate—the long-lost daughter of one of the world’s biggest film stars—ever revealed her identity to. So when it became clear her trust was misplaced, her world shattered for good.

Fourteen years later, Tate, now an up-and-coming actress, only thinks about her first love every once in a blue moon. When she steps onto the set of her first big break, he’s the last person she expects to see. Yet here Sam is, the same charming, confident man she knew, but even more alluring than she remembered. Forced to confront the man who betrayed her, Tate must ask herself if it’s possible to do the wrong thing for the right reason… and whether “once in a lifetime” can come around twice.

With Christina Lauren’s signature “beautifully written and remarkably compelling” (Sarah J. Maas, New York Times bestselling author) prose and perfect for fans of Emily Giffin and Jennifer Weiner, Twice in a Blue Moon is an unforgettable and moving novel of young love and second chances.

Book Breakdown

*This title was given to me in exchange for an honest review*

This has to be one of my favorite Christina Lauren novel's ever and I've read almost all of them! Sam and Tate are so freaking cute together! I loved watching their romance start up in London and then skip to the now and see them reconnect again. The writing is fun and witty like usual, characters are so cute, real and flawed just like us.

As always with these authors this is a feminist, progressive book. Very PC, so if that bothers you, be warned you won't like this. If you like that or can look over then you need to give this book a chance because it's so dang cute!

My only issue was the marriage thing... no spoilers but it just seemed thrown in for more drama and made no sense to me personally but this is just opinion.

Hate Notes - Book Breakdown

From New York Times bestselling authors Vi Keeland and Penelope Ward comes an unexpected love story of secondhand hearts and second chances…

It all started with a mysterious blue note sewn into a wedding dress.

Something blue.

I’d gone to sell my own unworn bridal gown at a vintage clothing store. That’s when I found another bride’s “something old.”

Stitched into the lining of a fabulously feathered design was the loveliest message I’d ever read: Thank you for making all of my dreams come true.

The name embossed on the blue stationery: Reed Eastwood, obviously the most romantic man who ever lived. I also discovered he’s the most gorgeous. If only my true-love fantasies had stopped there. Because I’ve since found out something else about Mr. Starry-Eyed.

He’s arrogant, cynical, and demanding. I should know. Thanks to a twist of fate, he’s my new boss. But that’s not going to stop me from discovering the story behind his last love letter. A love letter that did not result in a happily ever after.

But that story is nothing compared to the one unfolding between us. It’s getting hotter, sweeter, and more surprising than anything I could have imagined.

Something new.

But I have no idea how this one is going to end...

Book Breakdown

Wow! Just wow!

Charlotte and Reed have both been blind sighted by those they thought loved them most. Charlotte's partner cheated on her and Reed's partner left him after deciding she didn't want to deal with his health. Well, fate just happens to throw these two crazy kids together but Reed keeps fighting his feelings because he doesn't want to be a burden to Charlotte. But Charlotte doesn't want to give him up.

This book was so emotional. I laughed, cried, cringed, and just felt like I'd gotten off a roller coaster when it ended. It's well written, intriguing, and just sucked me in. I couldn't put it down! No wonder everyone raves about it, the hype is worth it for this one! Trust me.

It's a slow burn with an alpha male and our heroine is just so freaking cute and quirky that I loved that. Her texting in the air was the funniest and probably most cringey (I'm making this a word) thing ever but I just loved it so much. I loved how she brought out the man he'd been trying to bury deep and finally let himself find real happiness with her. The journey was rough - in the best possible way - and so worth it to get to the end.

Favorite Quote

"Love wasn’t about a beautiful dress, a note, or even poignant words. It was about being with someone through thick and thin, about seeing them through not only the best moments of life but also the worst."

EXCERPT:
Alex Hancock came out of the coffee shop opposite the courthouse and froze in his tracks.
Someone had parked their dirty, mud-streaked Jeep Wrangler close to his pristine, black and red Triumph motorcycle.
Alex’s knuckles whitened on his cup of black coffee.
When it rains, it fucking pours!
He stormed across the street, stopped in front of the offending vehicle, and glared at it as if it had committed a crime. A car slowly pulled up behind him.
“Wow,” someone murmured. “You look pissed.”
Alex turned. A pretty brunette was watching him with an amused expression from behind the wheel of a red, convertible Mini.
“You would be too if some asshole just blocked you in!” he snapped.
Izzy Batista’s green eyes sparkled impishly as she observed the grimy, four-wheel drive. “Yup, that guy must be one giant dick.”
She parked her car and joined him outside the courthouse.
“I gotta give it to you, Hancock. You sure scrub up nice.” Izzy placed her hands on her hips and scrutinized him with a critical eye.
Alex sighed irritably and downed his drink. He winced when a burst of acid rose in his throat.
“Easy on the coffee, stud,” Izzy murmured. “We don’t want you getting an ulcer on your big day.”
A fresh bout of nerves twisted Alex’s gut at Izzy’s words.
“I can’t believe I’m doing this,” he mumbled to himself. “Me, Alex Hancock, getting married.”
Izzy patted his arm. “No backsies.” A trace of steel underscored her friendly tone. “Remember, you got a lot riding on this.”
He crushed the coffee cup and tossed it in a nearby trash can.
She’s right.
It had been a month since the life Alex had carefully built in San Diego had come crashing down around him, after his business partner of two years embezzled from their law firm and ran off to Mexico. Mired in debt and with his new condo on the verge of being repossessed, Alex had desperately been trying to raise the necessary capital to salvage his career and company when Izzy Batista had called him out of the blue ten days ago. The sister of Wyatt Batista, one of Alex’s lifelong friends from his hometown of Twilight Falls, Izzy had discovered the predicament he was in through her older brother.
“I may have a solution to your problems,” Izzy said. “Word of warning though, it’s pretty unorthodox.”
Alex stilled where he sat on his couch, his cell phone in hand. “What do you mean?”
“One of my clients is in trouble,” Izzy said. “They have to get married by the end of the month or they’ll lose their estate and half of their considerable fortune.”
Alex frowned. “I don’t understand.”
Izzy sighed. “I’m saying this client needs a mail-order groom. And pronto. They’re willing to pay half a million dollars to the right candidate.”
Alex’s mouth went dry. “Half a million dollars?” His heart pounded against his ribs as he glanced at the boxes filling the apartment. He’d barely started unpacking when Ryan had pulled the rug out from under him and disappeared with half the company’s funds.
“Yup, half a million dollars,” Izzy repeated. “The contract’s for six months. Marry the client, live with them, and then walk into the sunset with the money and no strings attached.”
Alex swallowed, shocked that he was even entertaining the crazy idea Izzy had just proposed.
“Where does your client live?” he mumbled.
“Twilight Falls.”
Alex grimaced at Izzy’s answer. He raked a hand through his hair and stared at the dazzling lights of San Diego Bay through the glass doors overlooking his terrace, a storm of memories and bittersweet emotions crashing over him.
“I know you don’t like coming back here, Alex,” Izzy said quietly. “Not since the accident. But this could solve all your problems. And my client’s too.”
Alex chewed the inside of his cheek. “What’s wrong with your client?”
“What makes you think there’s anything wrong with my client?” Izzy said in a voice that Alex immediately distrusted.
“Because someone with that much money shouldn’t be struggling to find herself a fiancé, even a fake one. So what is it? Is she unattractive? Does she have a horrible personality?” He pulled a face. “Does she eat puppies for breakfast?”
“None of the above,” Izzy replied in a cheerful tone. “The client is gorgeous. They’re just a bit…eccentric, is all.”
Alex mulled Izzy’s words over. Eccentric he could deal with.
“Are they expecting sex?”
A soft chuckle travelled down the line.
“No, it isn’t that kind of arrangement. Besides, I know you’re more into dicks than vaginas.”
“Yeah, well, my dick hasn’t seen much action lately,” Alex muttered.
“And here I thought you moved to San Diego for all the gay guys,” Izzy said drily. “You know, since you’d pretty much fucked all the hot ones here in Twilight Falls.”
Alex scowled. “I only fucked one hot guy in that town.”
Izzy laughed. Alex found his lips curving in a faint smile at her bubbly voice. Truth be told, he missed Izzy and Wyatt. He missed all the friends he’d left behind when he decided to move to San Diego, after the accident that had changed all of their lives.
A comfortable silence settled between them.
“So, what will it be, Alex?” Izzy finally said.
Alex hesitated. “The end of the month is only ten days away.”
“Your math is spot on. I knew there was a reason why you became a lawyer.”
Alex ignored her sarcastic words. “Give me a few days to think about it.”
It had taken him three days to make his decision. Six days later, he’d put his stuff in storage, returned his apartment keys to his realtor, and climbed on the beautifully restored, classic motorcycle he’d owned since he was seventeen for the one-hundred-and-fifty-mile ride to the San Bernardino Mountains and the quaint, historic town of Twilight Falls.
Nestled in a valley of towering pine forests and home to the picturesque waterfall and rapids from which it took its name, Twilight Falls started life as a nineteenth-century trading post and mining settlement, during the California Gold Rush. After a slump following the two World Wars, the place saw a strong revival in the second half of the twentieth century, as a result of a sustained campaign by the city council to turn it into a tourist town. The rise in outdoor sports activities meant it now stayed busy pretty much all year around, with the briefest of lulls at Thanksgiving and the New Year.
Alex had reached Twilight Falls late last night. Having refused Izzy and Wyatt’s offer to put him up at their place, he’d booked himself into a motel outside town; the spring tourist season was just getting started and there’d still been rooms available at short notice. Not that he would have wanted to stay in town. Even though it had been twelve years since he’d left the place, he was bound to bump into someone he knew and he wasn’t in the mood for small talk.
“Are you ready?” Izzie said presently, excitement raising the pitch of her voice.
“Not really,” Alex murmured.
Izzy grinned. “Yeah, well, if you’d stayed at our place, we could have gotten you wasted and you’d be doing this drunk right now.”
“I really don’t think the county clerk would be impressed if the groom turned up with a hangover,” Alex said sternly. “Besides, I’m entering a legal agreement with this woman. The least I can do is show up sober.”
He looked up at the two-story, cream stucco and red-brick building before them and squared his shoulders.
Whoever this broad is, I only have to live with her for six months. How bad can it be?
An odd expression danced across Izzy’s face.
“What is it?” Alex said.
“Nothing.” Izzy flashed him a bright smile, hooked her arm through his elbow, and guided him up the short flight of steps and into the building.
They checked in at reception and headed in the direction of the court rooms. Surprise darted through Alex when Izzy walked past the austere wooden doors and continued down the hall.
“Where are we going?” he said, puzzled.
“To the chapel,” Izzy replied breezily.
He arched an eyebrow.
“The client insisted,” she explained with a mysterious smile.
The first tendrils of unease started coiling through Alex. Izzy was acting strange. And he wasn’t sure he liked the hint of devilment in the depths of her eyes.
The chapel doors appeared up ahead. Alex’s pulse speeded up when they opened them and stepped inside a large, airy chamber. The chapel was a relatively new addition to the courthouse and had been designed along the traditional lines of a church, with an altar, a chancel, and a nave split by a central aisle. But it wasn’t the charming ecclesiastical interior or the delightful pastel colors around them that caused Alex to draw a sharp breath and rock to a stop on the checkered marble flooring.
He stared beyond the bright posies and white lace decorating the wooden pews to the two figures rising to their feet from the front right row.
“Jesus, Izzy!” Alex hissed, shock reverberating through him. “I can’t marry her! She’s older than my grandmother!”
The elderly dame in the pink brocade dress and pale floral hat arched an eyebrow.
“You were right,” she told Izzy. “That one has a smart mouth on him.” The woman’s eyes fairly twinkled with glee as she studied Alex’s stunned expression. “I’m not the one you’re marrying, sonny.”
Alex’s heart stuttered. His gaze switched to the tall, dark-haired man in the smart, navy-blue suit and the ivory, rose boutonnière next to the woman. A thunderous expression clouded the stranger’s handsome, stubbled features.
Shit. You’re kidding me.
“What the hell is going on, Izzy?” the man growled.

B & E Ever After Book Blitz + Giveaway

B & E Ever After
Linda Kage
(Fairy Tale Quartet, #3)
Publication date: September 16th 2019
Genres: Adult, Fairy Tales, Retelling, Romance
A contemporary Hansel and Gretel Romance.
Gretel, er, I mean, Gabriella Salazar finds temptation and desperation to be too great and breaks into a wicked witch’s—uh, that is—a pretentious, rich woman’s condo, only to discover she’s not the only one with a B & E fetish. The twist is that the mysterious, handsome Hansel to her Gretel who has also stolen into the same apartment is anything but brotherly, and the two strangers find themselves lip-locked before the evening is over. Now Gabby and her new, aggravating accomplice must get crafty and work together to free themselves and everyone they hold dear from a mad woman’s clutches.
But breaking and entering never ends with a happily ever after…right?
EXCERPT:
From the front of the apartment, the distinct sound of a door unlocking echoed down the hall.
Wide brown eyes gaped at me, letting me know she heard it too.
“Shit!” I surged to my feet beside her, squeezing her hand tight. “She’s home.”
“Wait. What do you mean shit?” Eyes going wide, she gasped. “Oh my God, you’re not supposed to be here, either. Are you? I thought you looked way too sneaky, backing into the apartment the way you did.” Expression going murderous, she smacked me hard on the side of my shoulder. “You fucking hypocrite! Treating me like a burglar when you broke in too.”
“Shut up,” I hissed as the sound of the front door swung open. Slipping my wallet from my jacket, I flipped it around with one hand in order to flash my keycard, waving it in front of her face as I whispered, “At least I have a key and I know who lives here.”
She opened her mouth, looking pissed, but I set a finger over her mouth to quiet her. We could argue later. Right now, I had to come up with a plan to save us both from the wrath of Lana, who I could hear tossing her car keys on a side table in the front room.
“Just so you know,” I murmured as quietly as possible, pocketing my wallet as I stepped closer. “I’m doing this for your own damn good.”
Her eyes flared with worry. “Wait. Doing what?”
In answer, I wrapped a hand around the back of her neck, hauled her up against me, and slanted my mouth across hers.

Well damn. I imagine that a lot of people gasped when they got to the end of this and saw the big twist but I saw it coming from a mile away and knew what was coming so... yeah. I was told there was romance in this book....? I was lied to, do you hear me, Minnie?! You lied to me just to get me to read one of your favorite books!

But I did enjoy this book so I guess in the end it's all good. Jude is a bitch but she's had a rough life and that will make you hard or makes you like her twin sister, a softy that lets everyone walk all over them. So I did like seeing them mirror those choices so perfectly. Jude is not scared to do what needs to get done for her to gain power. Sometimes in the story, I felt like I was reading about a girl who turns into a villain like The Young Elites. So that will be cool if the author takes the story that way.

The writing is on par with every other Holly Black book so that's awesome. The book doesn't stop going, it just keeps throwing more politics at you which I got sick of, I knew that was going to be a part of the book (duh), I just didn't know it would be the whole book. I'm so tired of politics so... yeah... I'll just leave that alone.

I can see why everyone is raving about this book, it's got wickedly written characters, LGBT+ rep and a girl kicking ass. If that sounds like something up your alley, you'll love this book!

EXCERPT:
“There,” he said, pointing at Kelia’s face. “You have a range of emotion littering your face.” He chuckled. “You’re easier to read than a book.”
Kelia bristled. She absolutely detested knowing she was here because she needed the assistance of a Sea Shadow. And not just any, but the most infamous vampire pirate of them all.
“I found out some information,” she murmured. “And I feel you would be able to assist me in what to do with it.”
He tilted his head to the side, his eyes shining. “Do share, darling.”
It was hard to concentrate when he smiled that way. Kelia had known he was dangerously beautiful, but when he was directly in front of her, cocking a smile like it was a weapon and shooting it in her direction, she was completely powerless.
“Well, don’t be shy with the goods,” he prodded. “What did you find that you need my help with?”
She shot him a glare, and he laughed.
“You are so good to goad, darling,” Drew said. “Something you need to work on. You don’t want your enemies to pick up on your weakness. They might use it to manipulate you.”
Kelia arched her eyebrow. “And how do I know who my enemies are?”
Drew’s smirk deepened. “That, my dear, is a very good question.”

Favorite Lyrics

You called me strong, you called me weak
But still your secrets I will keep
You took for granted all the times I
Never let you down
You stumbled in and bumped your head, if
Not for me then you'd be dead
I picked you up and put you back
On solid ground

Favorite Lyrics

Now I'm falling even more in love with you
Letting go of all I've held onto
I'm standing here until you make me move
I'm hanging by a moment here with you

Submitting to Two Doms - Book Blitz

Submitting to Two Doms
BJ Wane
(Cowboy Doms, #5)
Published by: Blushing Books Publications
Publication date: September 9th 2019
Genres: Adult, Romance
It was meant to be an affair…
After Kelsey is assaulted, her FBI foster parents plead with her to spend a few weeks with their friends in Montana while they investigate the incident. Since she would do anything for them, she grudgingly agrees, wondering how she will pass the time on a ranch in the middle of nowhere without going stir crazy. As soon as she catches sight of her two hosts, Greg and Devin, she figures: what better way to take her mind off her troubles than with an affair with one of them?
Ex-FBI agents Greg and Devin vowed never to get personally involved with another woman under their protection after their last case ended in tragedy. When their former boss asks for their help, the two best friends butt heads over how to answer him. But what with the insecurity reflected in Kelsey’s blue eyes, the desperation behind her flirtations, and discovering her submissive side, both men find themselves succumbing to the petite blonde.
While Kelsey basks in the dominant attention of both her cowboys, she continues to insist she can’t wait to get back to her life in Philadelphia. It isn’t until the threat against her is verified, the truth comes out about her past, and a few disturbing mishaps occur that Greg and Devin step into full protection mode, vowing to keep the woman they’d both grown to care for safe. And not until after the guys save her life, freeing her to return home, does Kelsey realize home really is where the heart is, and hers is in Montana with her two cowboys.
This is book five in the Cowboy Doms series, but reads as a standalone.
EXCERPT:
If possible, Devin would slam the sliding back door shut as he followed his soon-to-be ex-friend and partner outside. He was so annoyed with Greg for answering Jordan McAllister’s call he didn’t even spare an appreciative glance toward the two young women enjoying the bubbling hot tub. The nip in the air, a hint fall was sneaking up on them fast, did nothing to cool down his hot temper.
“I’ll have to discuss it with…”
“No,” he interrupted Greg, refusing to hear what favor their ex-government boss wanted from them.
Greg glared at him but his annoyance didn’t come through his smooth reply. “Yeah, you heard right, but if I agree, he can just ignore her. I need to think about it. I’ll call you back in the morning.” He ended the call, leaned against the rail and crossed his arms. Looking toward the hot tub, he stated with polite firmness, “Give us a few minutes, please.”
“Sure, Master Greg.” Mindy, a regular at the club, and her friend, an attractive redhead Devin didn’t know, both stood and stepped out of the heated water.
Devin snatched two towels off the bench and tossed them over to them, the water sluicing down their naked bodies distracting him for a moment. He might be pissed, but he wasn’t brain dead. He waited until the door closed behind their towel-wrapped forms before rounding on Greg again, who still lounged against the rail, giving him that look, the calm under the surface but annoyed mien Devin knew only too well.
“We retired early for a reason,” he reminded Greg, moving to stand next to him, facing the night-shrouded trees several feet from the deck as he leaned his forearms on the post. “We swore we were done, and agreed to start over without looking back, without regrets.”
“And yet the regrets are still there.” Greg sighed and ran one hand through his wavy reddish/brown hair. “You recall the foster kid Jordan and Theresa took in, the young girl they talked about?”
“No.” But of course, he did. He remembered way too much of his years as an agent. Jordan had once shown him a school picture of the cute blonde whose large blue eyes dominated a small face.
“Stubborn ass. Anyway, she’s in need of a safe place to hang for a while after an attack at a job site. They’re asking us to take her in until they know what’s going on, if she was the target or just in the wrong place at the wrong time.”
Devin shook his head. “No. They can find someone else.”
“It’ll only be for a few weeks,” Greg persisted. “And we’re about as far off the grid from Philadelphia as you can get.”
Pushing off the rail, he leveled an angry glare toward his best friend. “No, and God damn it, you know why.” He turned and took two steps toward the doors, intending that to be the end of it since he refused to go down that road again.
Greg’s next words halted him with his hand on the knob. “I’m thinking of saying yes.”
Devin looked back and replied coolly, “You do that, but leave me out of it.”

50/50 Friday - Character Most/Least Likely to Have a Drunk Night of Karaoke

What is 50/50 Friday?
Everyone has a favorite and then we also have something we dislike. Like a coin, there are two sides to every question. Example: best sequel you've read/worst sequel you've read. So that's what 50/50 Friday is all about. I'll have a new topic every Friday. If you have have ideas for this meme don't be scared to let me know!

Happy Friday the 13th!

Topic for the Week
Character Most/Least Likely to Have a Drunk Night of Karaoke

Character Least Likely
Jude from The Cruel Prince
She reminds me of the type that doesn't like to lose control so I doubt getting drunk would be her thing.

Character Most Likely
Rose from Vampire Academy
She knows how to have fun and just let loose when needed, so I could see her doing this.

Topic for Next Week
Character Most/Least Likely to Start a Band

IT Chapter Two - Review

This is the conclusion for the film IT from 2017. Now, I will say that I loved the first part better than this one BUT I did also enjoy this one. I loved Bill Hater and James McAvoy. They really stood out among the cast. That's not to say the rest was bad. I think all the actors did a fine job. I will say that the adult Bev isn't as cool as the kid version but that's just my personal opinion.

I love that there was more humor in this one because of the humor and kinda bad CGI I wasn't scared at all. I usually get freaked out easily in scary movies. So if you want to dive into horror without being scared shirtless, this movie is a good start!

I wished there had been more of Pennywise as the clown in the movies vs the CGI monsters because they're just not as scary as the actual clown. Again, just my personal opinion.

My biggest gripe and this is just personal to me, it won't affect most people but I do want to mention it because if someone had told me I wouldn't have gone to see this one. Before the movie starts there's a warning for the flashing lights and man do they use flashing lights! There is one scene in the funhouse that is seen in the trailer and then most of the ending... so I had to cover my eyes or hide into my partner's shoulder for most of the ending which sucked because it was so good from the parts I did see and what I heard.

I've heard a lot of complaints about the runtime or the pacing and I didn't have any issues with it. The pacing was perfect! Nothing was ever too slow or boring. The runtime didn't fill bloated or overstuffed. I thought it was great!

Overall, I really enjoyed this and fully recommend unless you have issues with strobe lights as I do. Then stay away!

Not Suitable for Work - Book Blitz

Not Suitable for Work
Skye McDonald
(Anti-Belle, #1)
Publication date: September 24th 2019
Genres: Adult, Contemporary, Romance
The competition is stiff. The stakes are high. And what happens on Halloween night is definitely not suitable for work.
Celeste Greene and Ben Addison didn’t realize the internship-to-hire opportunity was actually a contest, but neither of these talented web designers can afford to walk away.
After betrayal destroyed her fabulous life in New York City, Celeste moved home to Nashville, Tennessee broke and broken. Restarting her career is her only goal. An ice queen who drove her partner to cheat can’t even think about friends or fun. Celeste’s talent and desperation should make the competition an easy win—if only she could stop gawking at her rival long enough to concentrate.
Ben Addison doesn’t want to be a corporate climber or live in a high-rise downtown. He just needs a steady paycheck after foolishly investing everything in a pretty face and a shot at a music career. He has no business fantasizing about his competitor, even if she is the most stunning—and guarded—woman he’s ever met.
This contest can’t rival the chemistry between these two, but is the risk worth the reward? With a haunting past and her future on the line, Celeste must decide what she wants, what she needs, and what her heart is really worth.

Author Bio:
Skye spent a lot of her adolescence dreaming about living in a hip, urban town full of adventures that occurred outside of the local mall. (Hers was Rivergate, in case you know Nashville well!) Now that she’s been living away from Nashville for years, the once sleepy Southern city has become just that place, and she returns to visit whenever she can. Her seven-novel-and-growing Anti-Belle series is centered in her hometown, partly as a homage and partly because these days Nashville is too hip to ignore.
In the real world, Skye is an English teacher in Brooklyn, New York, and has lived there long enough to consider herself a true New Yorker—even though she proudly cheers for the Tennessee Vols (her alma mater) and loves being a GRITS (Girl Raised in the South).

Skye's philosophy is to live with your heart and mind open. She believes in the beauty of this world and seeks adventure and joy as a daily practice. If "Life is what happens while you're busy making other plans," as John Lennon said, then she'd rather leave the schedule open and let life happen.
