Happy for You by Anyta Sunday - Book Breakdown

Mort wants his de facto family back. . . .
He knows he doesn’t deserve them. Not yet, anyway. Not without making up for leaving them in their time of need.
But it’s not easy to make amends. Mort must show how much he wants the Rochester family back in his life. When his best friend’s younger brother, Felix, has his license suspended, Mort jumps at the chance to play chauffeur and to win back the family he desperately wants to call his own.
Repairing his broken relationships—with all five Rochester siblings—becomes Mort’s personal mission. Especially with Felix. Felix, who used to follow him everywhere. Felix, who idolized him. Felix, whom Mort has not stopped thinking about . . .

Felix is just trying to keep it together. . . .
With a perma-smile as his armor, he’s determined to make his family happy. Determined to be a positive role model to his three younger sisters, while their mum struggles with depression after her kidney transplant.
Unfortunately, no amount of smiling can save his license when he gets pulled over for the umpteenth time, and he still needs to get his sisters to school, soccer, and dance classes.
The solution to his problem emerges in the return of their prodigal neighbor, Mort. Mort, who left their lives without a word. Mort, who was in love with Felix’s older brother.
Mort, who is the last guy Felix wants charging back into their lives. . . .

Mort and Felix. Two guys bound by a rocky past—
—a past they must come to terms with to find true happiness in the here and now.

My Big Fat Fake Wedding - Book Breakdown

He needs a wife.
I need a husband.
It’s just temporary… what could go wrong?

I’ve always wanted the fairy tale wedding. Not for the princess perfect dress or big party, but for Papa.

My grandfather. The only father figure I’ve ever known.
It’s his dying wish to walk me down the aisle.
Gee, no pressure.

But I can grant that wish...
I just have to fake being head over heels in love with Ross Andrews, my best friend's big brother whom I embarrassingly crushed on all through high school.

I know it’s a terrible idea, and we’re both in over our heads.
It could be the wedding of a lifetime or a total disaster.
How do we make it to the altar without killing each other first? Or without falling in love for real?

NaNoWriMo Update

I wasn't sure I was going to do NaNo this year but the first day I did write a bit and the next several days after that my life went into overdrive but somehow writing helped me. I wrote 6,000 words in one day and then 4,000 the next day.

Then I didn't write for a few days because my mental health got bad. I had a panic attack so bad that I couldn't sleep well for two nights. It was terrible.

Praying for Rain - Review

“None of this matters, and we’re all going to die.”

With only three days left until the predicted apocalypse, the small town of Franklin Springs, Georgia, has become a wasteland of abandoned cars, abandoned homes, abandoned businesses, and abandoned people. People like Rainbow Williams.

Rain isn’t afraid of dying. In fact, she’s looking forward to it. If she can just outrun her pain until April 23, she’ll never have to feel it at all.

“Supplies. Shelter. Self-defense.”

Wes Parker has survived every horrible thing this life has thrown at him with nothing more than his resourcefulness and disarming good looks. Why should the end of the world be any different? All he needs are some basic supplies, shelter, and a sucker willing to help him out, which is exactly what he finds when he returns to his hometown of Franklin Springs.

As society crumbles, dangers mount, and secrets refuse to stay buried, two lost souls are thrust together in a twist of fate—one who will do anything to survive and one who can’t wait to die.

Perhaps, together, they can learn how to live.

Before their time runs out.

The Princess Plan - ARC Review

Princes have pomp and glory—not crushes on commoners.

Nothing gets the tongues of London’s high society wagging like a good scandal. And when the personal secretary of the visiting Prince Sebastian of Alucia is found murdered, it’s all anyone can talk about, including Eliza Tricklebank. Her unapologetic gossip gazette has benefited from an anonymous tip about the crime, prompting Sebastian to take an interest in playing detective—and an even greater interest in Eliza.

With a trade deal on the line and mounting pressure to secure a noble bride, there’s nothing more salacious than a prince dallying with a commoner. Sebastian finds Eliza’s contrary manner as frustrating as it is seductive, but they’ll have to work together if they’re going to catch the culprit. And when things heat up behind closed doors, it’s the prince who’ll have to decide what comes first—his country or his heart.

"London’s observations of gender roles are keen, and her protagonists are eminently likable in their dogged pursuit of their own goals despite societal expectations and political pressures." -Publishers Weekly on THE PRINCESS PLAN

Llewellyn's Little Book of Empathy - Mini Review

Empathy is one of the most important tools you have for connecting with others. It supports the mutual exchange of love and nurturance, and it helps foster community, cooperation, belonging, and a sense of spiritual vitality.

But sometimes empathy can present challenges, especially for people who experience too much empathy. Difficulty can also arise for those who feel too little empathy or twist their sense of empathy to manipulate others. Llewellyn's Little Book of Empathy shares effective solutions for working through your under- or over-empathic tendencies, and it shows how you can process the underlying issues that lead to manipulation. You will also learn about the different kinds of empathy: physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual. Popular author and long-time intuitive counselor Cyndi Dale shares dozens of exercises and quick tips to prevent empathic downsides and support the positives of this ability, including:

Increased ability to set and achieve financial and lifestyle goals Improved physical and emotional health Boosted creativity and passion for life Ease in separating others' feelings from your own Increased ability to give and receive compassion Stronger and more loving relationships Bolstered self-esteem and self-confidence Effective ways to establish appropriate empathic boundaries An acute ability to problem-solve Intensified capacity for perceiving and making the best choices A level-headed approach to dealing with toxic people and their beliefs. Enhanced connections to spiritual guides Heightening of powers needed to reject negative people and spirits.

Music Monday - Dreamcatcher

This meme is hosted at Always Me

Now, I'm a second generation K-Pop fan. Give me SHINee, Girls Generation, Super Junior, 4Minute, Brown Eyed Girls and U-Kiss over these new bands any day of the week. My love for K-Pop started to wane when I found out about the whole 'slave contract' stuff. Not cool. I did used to like Black Pink but their company doesn't release enough music to keep my interest and the other big groups right now... just don't do it for me. Sorry BTS fans!

But Dreamcatcher is different. They are K-Rock and I love that. They are talented and the music is awesome. I hope after you listen to these two songs you just might like them too!

The top one is Korean and the bottom one is one of their Japanese songs. So there's a little bit of everything! I really do hope you enjoyed this Music Monday and I'll see you next week!

UPDATE!

I guess I'll just come out with it. I've got a few posts lined up and I'll do my damndest to keep 50/50 Friday but my life has turned upside within just a few days. Water damage all in our apartment... my daughter is sick and now we might have to move into a place I hate. Needless to say my mental health isn't doing so well during this time.

So the planned posts and 50/50 Friday will be all that I post for a while. Hope you guys enjoy your holidays!

Favorite/Least Favorite Horror Film

So Halloween was yesterday. Did you have a good day/night? Go to a party or trick-or-treat? Maybe you just settled down with a good horror book or film.

I spent the whole month of October watching one horror film a day with my partner and it made me want to share my favorite and least favorite. Plus, I'd love to see if you have any that I've not watched to add to my list. I love horror films and am starting to get into horror books as well.

Least Favorite Horror Film
I was too young to watch this movie when it came out but I remember my older brother and late sister being so scared about it that I had to check it out. Don't know why they were scared... it's a rather boring movie to me. I almost fell asleep during it.

Favorite Horror Film
I know everyone loves the MCU but to me... The Conjuring Universe is my thing. I love it! I think it's great and all the pisces just fit so perfectly and it's scary but the ending is always so good. Ugh, I just love this movie series!
