Music Monday - If I Can't Have Love, I Want Power

This meme is hosted over at Always Me

GUYS!!!!! I'm actually really excited to share these songs with you today! Halsey dropped her new album on Friday and no cap, it's such's a freaking vibe!

I love that music is slowly taking back on a more rocky sound. I group up on rock and it will always hold a special place in my heart, so this is just epic!

I've got three songs today because I just couldn't pick two! No way. This whole album is just great but these three are my favorites.

Please, sit back, and enjoy.

Which is your favorite? Please let me know below! Stay safe and have a great week!

Reading Update

Since I've started classes recently, I've not been reading nearly as much. So I don't really have any reviews ready. Sorry!

Today I thought I'd share what I'm reading instead! This isn't a TBR, just what I'm actually reading at the moment.

I am slowly working on my spooky TBR and trying to get ready for the ABC Challenge. So there's a lotto come! Just not today haha.

Two books I just finished are Dear Ava and The Unofficial Harry Potter Cookbook: From Cauldron Cakes to Knickerbocker Glory--More Than 150 Magical Recipes for Wizards and Non-Wizards Alike.

Dear Ava is just not for me. It triggered and confused me at the same time. The time jump that made no sense at all to me.

I you want a full review I can give one but Just know it won't be favorable.

I still recommend this because what doesn't work for me, could totally work for you!

I also read a pretty cool cookbook from the Harry Potter world because I'm still obsessed lol.

It's a nice little cookbook. Nothing to write home about, but not bad either. I might make some one day, but honestly, probably not.

I know there are a whole bunch of other Harry Potter Cookbooks out there and I really can't wait to snag and read more! I'm hoping to find a really nice recipe in one of them so I can make them when my partner and I have our Harry Potter movie marathons.

Now, moving onto what I'm currently Reading! I've got two in the works. One is a graphic novel, and the other is a historical romance.

By the time you see this, the new Witcher movie on Netflix will be out and to get myself all pumped, I've been reading the superb graphic novels!

If you like Witcher, then I fully recommend these really cool one shot stories!

So far, it's fantastic! I've just finished the first chapter where Geralt finds himself on a ship with someone who has killed the daughter of a monster that will not take that too kindly.

For the last book I'll talk about, Devil in Disguise! It's the latest book in the Ravenals series! I even got an ARC for it! I still bought it too because I know I'm going to enjoy it!

I've not even started yet, but it's opened up on my Kindle ready to go! Because of Covid, I'm nervous to take my books to school to read. I don't want to carry any germs home to my little one, so that makes it even harder to get any reading done.

Well, that's it for now! What are you reading? How is your week going? Let me know below!

As always, stay safe and happy reading!

Share A Poem on Sunday - Rain by William Saphier

This captures anxiety quite well I think. The feeling is like a storm, you know it's coming but you just can't stop it. All you can do is try and ride it out.

RAIN

Like crawling black monsters

the big clouds tap at my window,

their shooting liquid fingers slide

over the staring panes

and merge on the red wall.

Some of the fingers pull at the hinges

and whisper insistently: “Let us come in,

the cruel wind whips and drives us

till we are sore and in despair.”

But I cannot harbor the big crawling black clouds,

I cannot save them from the angry wind.

In a tiny crevice of my aching heart

there is a big storm brewing

and loud clamour and constant prayer

for the reflection of snow-capped mountains

on a distant lake.

Tires and dazed I sit on a bear skin

and timidly listen to the concert of storms.

Wattpad + Writing Rambles + My Story

It seems like forever ago when I said I was going to put a few old stories up on Wattpad because I wanted to share them with the world. Well, I've finally started!

The first one that I've started putting up was one I wrote over four years ago. It's my paranormal romance. It's called The Elemental

After Raven and her sister's mom dies they discover they are being stalked. All while strange things keep happening that can't be explained. Raven is put through hell but with help from something that has come alive in her and help of bi-racial werewolf Derek Nakashima, she just might make it.

Raven learns that her mother had married the Nakashima's father and, now they're here to protect her and her sister, whom they claim are in danger from the Council. While coming to terms with this new world, mastering her gift, and protecting her sister, Raven will learn things about her parents and even herself that she never would've dreamed.

I do hope you'll give it a look, I post two-three chapters every Sunday. I've already written the whole thing and so the uploads will come on time.

If you have any advice, critique, or comments on the story please do tell me! I want to improve my craft so that hopefully one day I can get one of my stories published.

That's really it for this one, have a great day! Thanks for stopping by and stay safe!

UPDATE + What's To Come

Hey there! I hope you’re having an amazing day! This is just a small post to let you guys know what’s going on in my busy life.

I’ve said this on Twitter, where I spend most of my time online. I’m looking into working more on Instagram and maybe TikTok, but we’ll see. But back to Twitter, I said that I’m going to be taking classes on graphic design, so that means my free time kinda went up in smoke. So it has delegated my blogging time to Sunday.

On Sundays I will create all the posts for that week and be hopping around your amazing blog. So please don’t think I’ve stopped visiting you. I’ll just be catching up on Sunday. I promise!

But this also means that as I learn more in class, I can make my blog look more professional, which excites me. I’m nervous about the classes as I’m not the best at drawing. Honestly, I rather suck at it, but I love creating logos and thumbnails and banners. So I’m willing to work hard.

Sadly, this leaves less time for reading, so fewer book reviews will be up. So if you have any ideas for posts, PLEASE let me know!

I have a few ideas that I’m bashing out, but have no idea when they will be complete. So just hang in there with me!

No, I’m not quitting blogging and there will be at least one new post a week, so don’t worry! I just won’t be blog hopping unless it’s Sunday. That’s it.

Lastly, I want to know what you’re up to? What have you been reading? Watching? Anything exciting happen in your life lately? Let me know everything down below!

As always, have a great day! Happy reading!

Ranking The Harry Potter Movies

My partner and I had ourselves a Harry Potter movie marathon. My partner’s favorite is Prisoner of Azkaban and he never fails to mention it, so it got me wondering just which is my favorite? We will start with my ultimate pick and work our way down!

1) The Chamber of Secrets (2)

My favorite scene in the whole franchise is where Harry and Malfoy are dueling and Harry speaks to the snake. It’s always just been freaking wicked to me. Not to mention how interesting it was to see a young Voldermort. I feel this movie really sets the dark tone while settling into the world. We see our young trio really bond as this movie goes along and I just love their teamwork, it really shines.

2) The Prisoner of Azkaban (3)

I love this one because Harry gets a moment of hope. He starts out thinking the man who betrayed his parents is out to kill him but finds not only was he wrong, but he gains a godfather that actually cares about him. It’s the first movie that visually takes on a darker tone while set against a stunning background in Scotland. I love that we get to see Harry and Hermione go back in time and save not only Sirius but Buckbeak.

3) The Goblet of Fire (4)

This movie changed everything. Gone is the normal format from the first three. This one ends with a death and Voldermort coming back in the flesh. This is the beginning of the end. It’s dark and depressing for most of the film, as Ron and he are at odds and Harry is put through hard tests that he never even wanted to sign up for.

4) Deathly Hollows Part Two (7)

After seven films of build up, so many deaths of those we love, we finally get to see that it was worth it. It’s a truly bittersweet moment. My favorite part is getting to see Snape for the first time. The man he actually was and not the monster it led us to believe for so long. While the ending isn’t all sunshine and rainbows, we see the light after a long dark storm.

5) The Philosopher’s Stone (1)

The one that started it all. We get to follow Harry into this amazing world, see it all come to life and learn beside him. It’s the lightest of all the novels, but very bittersweet as Harry gets to see his parents in the mirror. We get to see just how strong Harry is and his friends grow together.

6) Half-Blood Prince (6)

This one was so very good, but ripped my heart out. I can’t stand losing a character we love. Even though I have a love/hate relationship with Dumbledore, I hated that Harry had to lose yet another person he cared about. I loved that we got to see more of Snape, even though we’re led to hate him for what he did. Alan Rickman was just simply amazing.

7) Deathly Hollows Part One (7)

I really dislike the whole trend of spitting one book into two movies because it always feels incomplete. HP actually started the trend that so many other books followed. While I still enjoyed this one, it was as much as I wanted. Far too many loose ends and plots left hanging until the next one.

8) The Order of the Phoenix (5)

One of the saddest films... I hate that Harry lost the last family member he had. This film made me wonder if JK Rowling got off on putting Harry through the worst things she could come up with. So while I love watching the plot is thickening and we get to see something different from the school formula, it just makes me so freaking sad. If you know anything about me, know that I just can’t handle sad things. Oh, and of course, there’s Umbridge. Everyone hates Umbridge, and rightfully so. The actress plays it well, but that character, though...

In case you wanted to know which films were my partner's favorites.

1) Prisoner of Azkaban
2) Half-Blood Prince
3) Goblet of Fire
4) Deadly Hollows Part 2
5) Deadly Hollows Part 1
6) Chamber of Secrets
7) Order of the Phoenix
8) Philosopher’s Stone

Which film is your favorite? If you feel like it, I'd love to see your list! Until next time, stay safe out there and happy reading!
