Good Girl Complex - Book Review
She does everything right. So what could go wrong?
Mackenzie "Mac" Cabot is a people pleaser. Her demanding parents. Her prep school friends. Her long-time boyfriend. It's exhausting, really, always following the rules. Unlike most twenty-year-olds, all she really wants to do is focus on growing her internet business, but first she must get a college degree at her parents' insistence. That means moving to the beachside town of Avalon Bay, a community made up of locals and the wealthy students of Garnet College.
Mac's had plenty of practice suppressing her wilder impulses, but when she meets local bad boy Cooper Hartley, that ability is suddenly tested. Cooper is rough around the edges. Raw. Candid. A threat to her ordered existence. Their friendship soon becomes the realest thing in her life.
Despite his disdain for the trust-fund kids he sees coming and going from his town, Cooper soon realizes Mac isn't just another rich clone and falls for her. Hard. But as Mac finally starts feeling accepted by Cooper and his friends, the secret he's been keeping from her threatens the only place she's ever felt at home.
Book Review
Okay, I admit, I’ve been in a bit of a reading slump lately. Or maybe it’s just that I have no time to read after class and homework. Either way, I’ve not been reading a lot and when I do read I haven’t been enjoying it very much.
Well! This book changed that! It pulled me in right away with it’s She’s All That kinda vibe and I was hooked! I couldn’t stop reading and when I pulled my eyes away from the book, I couldn’t stop thinking about wanting to keep reading!
Here’s the low-down. Mac is being forced by her parents to go to a college she doesn’t want to go to. She’s already got her own money and doesn’t need them but she’s too nice to say anything. She’s also dating some loser who she doesn’t seem to get is a loser... until later when the plot needs her too, even though all the signs. (My only gripe with this book.)
Then we have Cooper. Sexy bad boy with full tattoo sleeves who’s trapped in the college town where the students treat him and his friends like peons. Everything’s set off because a stupid rich jerk gets Cooper fired and he wants revenge. He and his friends come up with the idea for Cooper to seduce the rich jerk’s girlfriend and get her to fall for Cooper and break up with her rich boyfriend, then dump her.
Only nothing goes to plan after he actually talks to Mac and sees she’s not the person he thought she’d be... now Cooper’s in much deeper than he ever expected and how long till it blows up in his face?
I loved these characters. So much. They each have their own family trauma and watching them bond over it was just sweet. It showed how much they were alike, even if their backgrounds were vastly different.
I loved being in his little seaside town and Cooper’s friends. Evan’s book can’t get here any faster! I already preordered and am counting down the days!

I'm also studying hard for my certification for Adobe Illustrator on the 23rd of this month. I hope I get it but I have this classmate who never leaves me alone and is not only the teacher's favorite but the school's favorite so even though I told the teacher about her, she still won't leave me alone. But if I miss this test, I can take it again in the fall and she won't be there! So I can study freely and be left alone! Yay!
But I would like to get it before summer, would just be a great way to start my summer! So far, (knock on wood) my little kiddo hasn't gotten sick as I write this, I'm hoping so much that it stays that way! I hate seeing her sick and I really hate being sick as well. No fun at all.
I hope to have a review for next week or talk about books more, but that all depends on school. I really can't wait for school to be over. My last day is the 24th. Fingers crossed it goes by fast!
That's really it for this update. I hope you're having a great week! Tell me what book you're currently reading below and I'll see you next time! Stay safe!

The Good Girl's Guide to Rakes - Review
When Kieran Ransome’s latest antics result in a massive scandal, his father issues an ultimatum: find a respectable wife or inherit nothing. But as one of London’s most inveterate scoundrels, Kieran doesn’t know any ladies who fit the bill. Or does he?
Celeste Kilburn is a society darling, beloved by influential members of the ton. But keeping a spotless reputation leaves little room for adventure and she longs to escape her gilded cage, especially with her impending engagement to a stuffy earl. When Kieran—her older brother’s best friend and an irresistibly attractive rogue—begs for her help, Celeste makes a deal: she’ll introduce him to the right social circles if he’ll show her the scandalous side of London.
In between proper teas and garden parties, Kieran escorts Celeste—disguised as “Salome”—to rowdy gaming hells, wild fêtes, and sensual art salons. As they spend more time together, their initial attraction builds to a desperate desire that neither can ignore. But when someone discovers their midnight exploits, Celeste’s freedom and reputation are endangered, and Kieran must save the woman he loves… respectable or not.

Mid April Reading Update (Four Thousand Days, Manga, When He Was Wicked)
When I saw this floating around the blog world, it caught my eye. Mainly for the name Margaret Murray. If cause you know nothing about her, some say she’s the mother of witches and same say her work was discredited.
Either way, she brought witchcraft into the mainstream during her time and she was a first wave feminist. So she was an important figure in history either way.
So, I had to read this book! I enjoyed it, but it wasn’t what I hoped it would. The writing was a little weird to me and took me a bit to get into the story because of it. You can tell a man wrote it for sure. But once you get into the flow, it’s not so bad anymore.
The story itself was pretty interesting, and I enjoyed the time because I’ve been into historical books as of late. I won’t give away any plot since this is a mystery and I hate when those get spoiled for me.
Overall, a good book, but nothing out of the water.

Vampire Dormitory Volume 1 - Review
"I'll do it! I'll become your thrall!" A crossdressing girl and an otaku vampire find themselves entangled in a dangerous relationship. Don't miss this heart-pounding romance from the award-winning Ema Toyama, perfect for fans of Crimson Spell, Black Bird, and He's My Only Vampire!
BLOOD OVER FLOWERS
Mito has no family to rely on. She lives on the streets, disguised as a boy. Ruka is an otaku vampire interested only in 2D girls. After Ruka saves Mito from a perilous situation, he makes her an offer: "Become my subservient thrall and let me drink your blood whenever I wish! In return, you can live with me—in the boys' dorm!" But to stay with him, Mito must hide the fact that she's a girl. Every day is a new danger—to say nothing of that bloodthirsty vampire!
Book Breakdown
No one loves or wants Mito. She’s barely surviving but when a vampire decides to make her his thrall with the promise of loving her until her sour blood ripens, she jumps head first into the deal. Only the vampire, Ruka, doesn’t know she’s a girl.
Mito cross dresses to keep herself safe. People leave her alone more as a boy. There’s no way she could ever tell Ruka the truth because he says that he doesn’t drink from women. But one day, he’s going to find his mate and her blood will be the sweetest of all.
Then there’s Ren, he knows that Ruka is a vampire and wants to keep Mito safe. He doesn't explain why he knows Ruka's secret but Mito trusts him right away.
Add all this up and it feels like a more immature version of Vampire Knight, which is one of my favorite mangas ever. So I'll be devouring every volume out right now!

Friday 5 - Vampires
So the five can be connections of any kind. Books can have been read last year or any year. Books can be used more than once. They may not have been read yet. They might be ones you just bought or want to buy. It can be as simple or as complicated as you like. Maybe it’s not a list of actual books, but things connected to books – e.g. favourite book shops, recipes etc. It might even be five movies related to books or five poems or five poets or five bookish moments, five thoughts about reading – be creative! - The Book Date

Well hello there. Welcome. You might be shocked that today I have two reviews and my friend, you're not alone. I actually read something! *Insert fireworks here*
I've been in such a terrible reading slump and it seems I'm coming out of it... very slowly.
So I decided to pick up something easy to read, to ease myself back into the grind. That's where the two stars of this post today come into play! Let's go!
